Then where does Ulstrom go?
- Danformo

Bounces between the Bridge and here....I think the better question is where does Matt Moulson go. He really doesn't fit in anywhere at this point, so if there's a trade to be made, perhaps it starts with him....it probably wouldn't be hard to deal a three time 30 goal scorer along with say Ullstrom and a pick

Hard ot get a top 6 forward without trading anything for one. My reply may have sounded stupid, tell me.

I think BN MD RS and NN are all ready, and as of now Unless Ulstrom/Jonesu goes theres only 2 forward spots
- Danformo

2?

Boyes, Reasoner, Boulton and Aucoin can all be gone.... I can see Aucoin maybe being back. Thats 4 roster spots.

I think Nino & Nelson make it out of camp.

That's what I was laughing at. You saying pretty much, a top 6 is not going to land in your lap for nothing did'nt sound stupid at all, it was actually really funny

Yes, but what would you give up for him? There'd have to be a lot of conditions about the Isles being able to sign him...next season's his last on his current contract.
- UIF

Yea, that’s why I mentioned taking a chance. Unfortunately I think we will have a big problem once we are finished with Nabby on the goaltending side. If the isles bow out of this series in 5 games then you would have to assume that Nabby might be done here. He was great in the regular season but has sucked in the playoffs so far. The thing is with Miller, you have a rock in net but I would only be comfortable with a trade if I knew that Miller was going to sign a multiyear deal after the trade.
I just don’t have the confidence in Poulin/Kolkinen/Nilson right now as our long term answer.

Why can you see Aucoin being back? Maybe the Isles sign him to a 2 way deal and use him as a call up for emergency purposes. but no way in hell does he get a full time roster spot next year with all of our prime prospects sitting down in the AHL.

Yáll have the resourses to make a big move. Garth may make some changes, I hope he doesn't screw the team chemistry. These kids have been together for some time now, I think he should keep them together.

Neither do I, I'd like to keep this train running and we may need another tender to do so. Nabby was great in the reg season but he's been pretty average/not good in the Playoffs. Hopefully he redeems himself tomorrow

I'm not worried about that, I'm more worried about him resigning crap like Boyes to an extension. He won't break up the core, that I'm confident in.

he has played really well. And he is a stop gap till the guys are ready. Plus Strome has played a total of 10 AHL games so far... a season in Bridgeport will not hurt his development at all.
IF he's comes into camp & earns a spot on the team thats one thing, but I wouldnt just expect him here & say he's ready after 10 AHL games.

I see what you mean, but IMO it would have to be a 2 way deal with Aucoin.

If Boyes and Aucion are gone thats 2

Reason/Boulton/Ulstrom/Joensu all occupy the final slot.
There's not point in bringing in BN or Nino or Strome to be a 13th foward.
So I view it as 2-3 spots open, where it's most likely 2 top 6 spots and 1 possible bottom 6

Ok lets just say for Sh1ts & Giggles, that ONLY Boyes spot opens up... because they saw enough out of Bailey & Okposo in these playoffs to think one of them is a first line wing & to be honest if KO plays like this from now on, he is on JT's wing.

so that opens a spot for Nino on the second line and everyone else stays put.

But wouldn't that be giving Nelson the shaft? You could argue he's been better than Nino in BP

From what reports? There's no evidence of that. Without explanation he wasn't invited to camp preseason and therefore got upset and asked his agent to do something about it. Garth travelled out there and explained the teams plan for Nino and everything was fine. He knew he wouldn't be playing in the playoffs so requested to play at the worlds. I think we're making a bit much of this.

You could look at it that way, But just like with any other NHL franchise, You call up for the position you need. If we dont need a center then Nelson stays down. If we need a wing then Nino comes up.

That certainly will not bring you in a top 6 player. If you want those players, you have the assests to get them now. And, with the team clearly on the rise, you will find players that want to play with JT, just like the players that want to play with others inthe league.
- bixll

what?!?! hes saying spots open bc those players are free agents and wont be resigned... therefore btwn prospects and trades, those holes will fill up...and yes, top 6 spots.

But we also have guys that wont be back next year as you said & guys that can stay in the AHL... no one HAS to be traded. We have 4 potential spots opening. And we have guys that would benefit from more time in the AHL.

XxNYIxX

the only reason that ill dispute is that the team will need to either trade, restructure contracts and dance around the CBA to get to the floor...

You all forgot about Anders Lee. I would think he'll fit into the equation. My gut says Nino (or Lee) goes with a pick for maybe Bernier...Since Garth was a goalie I'm not sure he is enjoying the series Nabokov is having. I think he tries to sign Nabokov (1 year $4 mil) but as Staple mention, they would like an NHL vet to play behind him...or maybe 50-50...then they try and bring in a NHL d-man to take Streit's place until the kids in Bridgeport are ready...

Xx to answer your question: I think Strome and Nelson stay with the Islanders in the fall...Aucoin will be the 13 forward...Lee or Nino will be traded...
