Should have kept LU in he was playing so awesome for his team. If only they stepped it up for him. He deserves a team and head coach and fan(not all fans) who have faith in him.. Great game sharks - SJSHARKIES
Gillis put the team in a position where they're better off, at least for the future, bowing out in the first round than succeeding with Luongo in net. The guy is a real genius.
You mean like perhaps trading one of the goalies for scoring help? Cause really this goalie thing should never have gotten this far. The "I told you so's" will be endless, its going to be a long summer for you guys. - systemtool
Except that the goalie they've committed to trading isn't going to get them any real scoring help. What a gong show.
Team's are always going to be looking to upgrade their goaltending. I don't think he's that immovable, Gillis needs to take back salary and maybe send another quality prospect or roster player the other way to sweeten the deal to obtain some real assets. Basically there needs to be a hockey trade. - gravyface
He can't take back salary though. Vancouver's cap situation next season is grim at best and if they have any hope of getting under the cap while still icing a NHL team they have to get rid of Luongo's salary. Even with Luongo gone they're still going to have to use both of their amnesty buyouts. There's literally no room to take back any salary. Gillis has to somehow trade Luongo for picks and prospects and no one is going to give him anything of value for one of the worst contracts in the league.

They wouldnt have gotten much, but I felt they had the potential to trade him when they decided to sign Schneider to that deal. Once the new CBA came in and lowered the cap, it was just game over, if it was even on in the first place.

That's why I get such a kick out of this site. I'm just a (frank)ing fan, I have zero say in what the Canucks coaching, management and ownership does so why the (frank) are tolls telling me and others "I told ya so?". I just cheer for my team and the players on it. Outside of the Canuck homers and trolls, everyone knew that the whole goalie situation was handled poorly, that the coach needed to go, that getting Roy alone wasn't enough, and that this team was set up or a first or second round loss this season.
Hey Maple Leaf fan, "I told ya that the the Rask/Raycroft trade was a bad deal! You guys are such a stupid fanbase for making that trade!"

Agree with this. Still pisses me off that the NHL is punishing teams for contracts that were legal when they were signed. NJ got screwed over the worst with the draft pick punishment on top of it, and people wonder why the NHL isn't considered to be run as well as other professional leagues. Even if the Canucks didn't have one of those contracts, I would still feel the same way.

I would be shocked if Ballard isn't bought out and I'm not totally clear on if teams can use both compliance buyouts in one off-season, but if they can then Booth would have to be seriously considered as well. I agree though, and I'm sure Gilman who's supposed to be the capologist probably knows the situation better that any of us fans.

Whats up with the whining and excuses? Either win or lose like men.
game 1 - Sharks are cheating on faceoffs
gmae 2 - If Canucks had Schnieder in instead of Loungo
game 3 - Sharks are diving/embellishing
game 4 - ??? The Shark tank is too loud? The ice is too slippery?

Who is making these excuses??
Both teams have complained about the other team cheating in the circle.. see Thornton and Couture.
So.. not sure where you are getting other "excuses"? I didn't think Sharks were diving or embellishing in game 3.. and I don't think you are going to find anyone who blamed Lu for game 2.. I'm so confused with what the (frank) you are referring to?

Couture and thorntons comments were a response to the crying done by the canucks, and the other references were canucks crying about embellishment after game 3[url]
