Sorry, but blaming the officials is the easy way out. The Pens dropped a big turd at center ice last night, and weren't playing very well even when they were up 3-1. The Islanders really raised their game, and earned the win. Blaming the officials is just weak. - Emperor Filonius
So those 2 situations didn't happen and nor did they factor in? In that case it had nothing to do with them gaining momentum nor did it give them a chance to come back. This is nothing new for me. I'm not saying officiating sucks because of last night but poop every penalty isn't even because the Isles are down 3-1...
It turned the game around when they we're fragile!!!
If Bylsma thought that Jokinen was a better fit on line 2 as the game went on I'm fine with that, but it was really puzzling to bench Bennett like that and then utilize him in the last minute. - Gunner Staal
Did Jussi get time on the 2nd line? I'm not sure I remember that. He had around 11 minutes. He def deserves more time...he's been a big factor in nearly every game since he got here.
If Tanner Glass gets only 4 mins, he shouldn't be in the lineup. Time to finally bench him.

I'm saying that the Islanders were the better team last night from start to finish. The calls on those plays you are concerned about were not very good..BUT..if you play better and you earn your own breaks, they aren't nearly as impactful. When you play lousy, turn the puck over, and take undisciplined penalties, then you leave yourself at the mercy of things that are out of your control, like officiating.
I think the Rangers got screwed on that missed call near the end of the third but after watching their PP all game I don't think it would have mattered.

Yeah they suck. I think the Pens PK would look good against them. I wish somebody would end this so I can enjoy the rest of the day outside. HATE afternoon games!

Ok but those are 2 situations the Pens should get a PP. If they get 2 PP their is a very good chance this game gets put away. I already said I thought the Isle out played the Pens but if the game wasn't being called by the score the Pens would be up 2-0 and that's my opinion and no bigger factor than making up calls because of the score.
Exhibit A - Clean hit. Clear instigator score make the call here.
Exhibit B - Hamonic goes after Cooke. Clearly drops his glove. Cooke gets 2 minutes because it's 3-1 and the Pens might put the series away.

Rangers fans deserve to panic. Their d men have literally no poise to speak of in this series.

They barely held on to beat one of the worst teams in this years playoffs. I would be pretty worried if I were a Hawks fan. The first couple of rounds should be easy for them. Instead they are getting taken to over time. I'm still hoping we meet in the Finals, but the Hawks will have to improve if they hope to make it that far. - woopstash
Where's woopstash today? Somebody might want to call in a well being check.

Cant find the video.
No Video found yet but both BS. - lloyd095
I was OK with Nisky going, but for sure thought Okposo was going to get the instigator/game misconduct. Would have seriously taken the life out of the Ises.
Cookes call was total BS.
How about the cross check to Sid that was missed, then Iggy takes 2 for interference.
We could do this all day. Doesn't change the score or the fact NYI was better. Piss poor officiating.... however teams need to deal with it or spend the off season complaining about it.

If you really want to look for a turning point from last night it was when Sid missed those 3 really good opportunities for his hat trick in the same shift on the PP. 4-1 = Pens win.

I don't think you can argue for the instigator penalty when both players take off their helmets and drop the gloves prior to throwing anything. If Kyle had grabbed him and started throwing first before that, then I could see it, but all I see is a challenge, accepted, drop helmets, drop gloves, fight.

Sutter breaking in alone on Nabby, also to go up 4-1 midway through the first.
Nabby holding the fort on the 4 minutes to Tavares.

How about Strait's cross check in Crosby? And Hamonic attacking Cooke? I thought so.. good gme by the islanders last night btw!

He skated all the way across the ice to get to Niskanen. All I'm saying is that even though the Isle looked like the better team most of the night I have no doubt that officiating was trying not to give the Pens a PP when the score was 3-1. If the game was called by the book I feel the Pens are up 2-0. It changed the game!!!
With that said should the Pens have blame and won it on top of bad officiating? Sure they should've played better!!! I'm not worried about this series though. I think the Pens will rebound and get back to punishing JT and company. The only lineup change I see is Engo for Despres. Fleury still starts

Obviously you'll see and remember the calls that didn't go your team's way. We're fans...that's why a lot of us always think there are conspiracies against our teams. I think the Isles benefitted more from some calls last night, sure. But it wasn't all one way either. Couple of easy ones that could have been made on the Pens that weren't, and you probably don't think much about them since they weren't on your team...Cooke holding onto one of the Isles' defensemen's stick (can't remember who) for dear life right in front of the ref behind the Isles' net comes immediately to mind. Watch any game today and you'll see at least half a dozen calls not made for every team.
I hear you...blown/missed calls suck. I'll be complaining about a few before we're done with this series, you can book it. I just don't think a forensic breakdown of the officiating does much to explain last night's game. The Penguins had their foot on the Isles' throat at the end of the first, let up, and couldn't get it going again in time to put the game away at the end. Calls or not, all they had to do was play D exactly like they did in game 1 after either of their two-goal leads and it would have been Goodnight Gracie for the Isles in game 2 and probably the series.

Third period when they were tied. Remember it, was screaming at the TV. Figured after that one they were just letting them play in the third?

Rather him than Vokoun honestly. Not because of last night either I thought he played a pretty decent game contrary to popular belief on here. Islanders have always had issues with Vokoun back to when he was playing in Florida.
In the 3rd whistles go away... Hate that - lloyd095
Refs should just call penalties as they see them. It's that simple. I don't think anyone will disagree with you when it comes down to that? There is nothing worse then when officiating decides a game.
