He is un-inspiring and he had a chance to make a few statements while he was coach and he didn't, I have no confidence in him to lead the club and teams always play a little better after the coach is shafted they suddenly have to play for their jobs again.
- MikeyOz

if it's a slow rebuild, keep him around with the kids for a year or so then get the big name coach

I doubt regier would make the moves needed for this team to compete in the next two years, so it really does not matter who is coach

2 guys are needed for the top 2 lines

2 top 4 d men are needed that are not offensive minded

otherwise no sense in keeping miller or vanek if the glaring needs are not going to be fixed right

no it doesnt, Darcy has said in multiple interviews, including the one you quoted that they want to move up if possible.
- Homer

He also stated that he's talked to teams that are absolutely un willing to deal their picks (probably col, TB, Fla).

Is this to compete for a playoff spot or for a rebuild? This looks like a roster that will finish anywhere from 10th to 7th in the east.

I agree with all that, I just don't think it should be Rolston, time for the club to get something tough and un-forgiving.

I don't mind either way they go as long as that is made clear to the players and fans, if they keep Miller/Vanek fine, if they let them go fine, I just want a coach that is not going to accept lazy uncommitted play, it isn't enough to just make the club and the NHL.

I can't see any team above us willing to trade down to move Buffalo, those teams want those players, this club screwed themselves by thinking they could make the playoffs and now stuck at number 8 in the draft again.

Agreed on the teams above us but that's a bad way to look at it. This is the highest we have drafted in almost 10 years.... Based on how deep the draft is and if you look at it by potential, the player we select could potentially be the most talented prospect the sabres have had in over a decade.

Next year should and needs to be written off right now by Darcy. They shouldn't be singing anyone expensive or trading for veterans. IMO they are planning on either trading up to get their cornerstone forward or pretty much plan on doing a lot of losing to get that guy next draft.
Play the kids. Take the diapers off the young "core" and see who makes it their team and make them captain when Vanek is gone. Put Grigorenko with Vanek. When Vanek is on a hot streak Grigorenko will benefit and gain confidence.

Im completely against letting our young guys get thrown into the fire. Let them get minutes in Rochester in all situations (Larsson, Girgensons, Armia). Our division is going to be stacked next year with Detroit joining, and then Florida and Tampa getting the #2 and #3 overall picks this year to add to what they currently have.

We should sign some quality bottom 6 veterans that will take the tough defensive minutes away from the young guys so they can focus on building confidence and grow their offense.

UFAs: Boyd Gordon, Bryan Bickell, Craig Adams, Viktor Stalberg, Chad Larose, David Steckel, Kyle Chipchurra, Mason Raymond... etc

Im fine with signing bottom 6 players. What I'm against is trying to patch this team together like Darcy has done for years. Let the kids play and let them decide who is the future of the team. Right now we don't know if guys like Foligno are a top 6 forward or bottom 6 forward, is Hodgson a #1 Center or number 2? There are so many unsecured spots on this team the only way is to take the training wheels off and see who steps up.

Yeah but it feels like the Sabres are settling like they always do, never seem to have a positive force or direction, Darcy just seems to always take the "safest" option and look where it gets us, occasionally he strikes a bargain but ultimately it ends up failing.

I think next year should definitely be a write off, sign some players to put together a "solid" team let those young guys play and develop in Rochester and the team could gel with the right coach, not Rolston.

I would not like to see Miller or Vanek go. I would rather see them negotiate new deals for them. Not 8 year deals, more like 3 or 4. However, if they must move them, I would say a perfect fit for Miller would be Edmonton. The Sabres would get alot back for him, it would have to be one of their previous first rounders.
I also think head coaches are hard to come by. If Boucher did not work out in Tampa, do not understand how he would all of a sudden work here. I would wait and see if a guy like Larry Robinson were available.
I totally agree you need a coach that can motivate his players. We learned that when Nolan was here. He was the motivator, and his assistant was the brains. Good mix, and it worked.
I still think Dudley would be a great fit as GM in Buffalo.

I love it, while most fans are watching the playoffs you dorks are making up line combinations of players who aren't even in the nhl yet, and talking about "if I were gm" scenarios. how bout we all watch the playoffs, see what real nhl teams do, then hold darcy, ted, and terry accountable force them to improve the team. its the same song and dance every yr with darcy. this team is bad bc of his trades and his draft picks yet you people are talking about the young talent in the organization and the future picks. guess what? this team is going to be terrible for another 5-7yrs!! brace yourselves fellas

If they get the opportunity he should trade Miller for a 1st round pick, even if it's a lower one, and get Fucale. It's a move that makes a decent amount of sense to me.

Help me out with Fucale, please.

Actually the Sabres should sign veterans 1-2 to a 1 year deal at big money. They help the young guys grow + they are playing for long term contract.

Are you planning a raid on FNC with pitchforks and torches to hold "Darcy, Ted and Terry accountable"?

It's obvious that this organization is going to do whatever the hell it wants, no matter what the fans do. There's an old saying, "If you start listening to the fans, you'll soon be sitting up there with them".

Should Darcy have been able to clean up his own mess? Hell, no. But he's here. And he will be here. There's nothing any of us can do about it, other than not following the team. I live in WNY, always have and probably always will. I will go to my grave a Sabres fan. So, for me and many others like me, we choose to follow this team, through the good and the bad.

There is a waiting list for tickets, and we had the 2nd highest TV ratings in the league. The only pressure this organization has is the pressure it puts on itself to win. I believe all of them - yes, even Darcy - has pride and passion, and wants a championship.

Is it bleak right now? Yes. But many around here believe in Terry. He didn't buy this team to make money. He bought it to bring a championship to the city of Buffalo.

It will happen.

I want to know the real reason why Ted Nolan can't get a job...

We've all heard the rumors of him banging players wives, throwing Muckler under the bus, booze problems,etc..

What really happened ????

Anyone care to comment ?

If Rolston is named coach I might quit following the Sabres.

Anyone else to possibly trade our 1st round picks to move up ? I am!
