Also in action tomorrow (9:15 a.m.) will be Ilya Bryzgalov in goal for Russia against Latvia.
- bmeltzer

I hope Bartulis scores a softie on Bryz so this place will go bananas - for Bryz and for the defenseman we let slip away.

Bill do you think there is any chance the flyers try to move up in the draft, say top 3 to get one of either Jones/Drouin/Mackinnon??

Adam Hall should be signed. The guy has size is good on the PK and will cost 700,00 tops.

Instead they have to rush Laughton into the NHL.

Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek
Hornqvist-Schenn-Simmonds
Gagne(1 year 2 mill)-Couterier-Read
Talbot-Hall-Rinaldo
Rosehill

young kids:Laughton, Cousins, Akeson, Mcginn, Noebles, Holmstrom

Timonen-Coburn or Meszaros or a UFA like Clitsome
Blum-Schenn
Grossman-Gustafsson
Gervais

Maybe they can trade Meszaros or Coburn plus pick or prospect for a good forward with some size like Glencorss or Hornqvist from Nashville along with a dman like Klein or Blum.

Final from World Championships: Czech Republic 2 - Belarus 0. Voracek scored the first goal for the Czechs and was easily the best player on the ice for either team.

I'd be more willing to go off the board on the forward side of things.

Yes, there's a chance the Flyers could trade to move up. Doubt it will be in the top three.

Consensus of many is that Laughton is ready for the NHL and not being rushed.

I'd rather him get bigger minutes in the AHL, but he's not old enough.

Do we even know if Mike Rathje is still alive?

Happy Friday, Bill. Thanks for your blogs ... it makes a playoff-less year just a bit easier.

I've always hated David Clarkson ... which is exactly why I'd love to have him on the Flyers. More than Clowe, for sure.

- FlyerGuy

to hate; hate to

Perfect combo, but do the Flyers have the need for him? Does he make Hartnell and Simmonds redundant?

Thankfully, everyone passes away alphabetically in the obits, so it should be easy to find if he has.

Before anyone asks for the umpteenth time if the Flyers are going to trade for Bobby Ryan this offseason...

sounds like a well thought out plan along the lines of chip kelly's football manifesto.
- isaiah520

Without context, it just seems so misguided.

Which top team has made it a mandate to "get bigger", gone out and done it, and have it work for them?

How about "get better"?

EDM has made it known that they would trade down from #7.

after this rotten yr, it would actually be refreshing to see them target barkov or pulock.

When will the Flyers realize that BPA is subjective. If you value big 2-way forwards higher then speedy snipers, you will have 2-way forwards higher on your list.

IMO its time for the Flyers to project skilled scorers and Offensive defenseman higher on thier list then Large defensive defenseman and 2 way forwards with "offensive upside".

Once you re-align your rankings, then you can still take the BPA, but it would be a completely differnt type of player.

It's about measuring up each player currently. Bill is right. Not sure why these baords make Ryan out to be the star that he is not.

"Local product that isn't really local" > "Some dude from anywhere else with more skill"

Tangradi gets no love. Tony Voce should get another shot here, I guess - from Kjell Samuelsson.

I watch the playoffs and see players such as Joel Ward and Jason Chimera. That's the type of player that the Flyers need to add to the lineup. Strong on the puck, bring a phyusical element. And can chip in the odd goal. And won't break the bank on the Cap. It's possible that Tye McGinn can supply that type of play to the lineup.

Bill what do you think about a move to get a guy like Gaustad?

Dont know what it would take, but I think he would be a perfect fit on the 4th line.

Wins a ton of faceoffs, is huge, pretty limited offensively, but can put up 15 points a season, and would be a mainstay on the PK.

(this is also a player I have wanted them to try to get for some time for the fourth line lol)

Yes! Then we can all complain when they're not ready in September -- of this year or any year prior to 2016.

I never want to see Chimera in orange and black after his tantrum last season (2011-12). Dude needed a binky and some Desitin.
