He is definitely right. Same story as always
We have a 12.2 mil center (Hank and Daniel )that are trying to feed the likes of 2 nd rate scorers
A moron coach
A 4.2 Mil benchwarmer
A 5.3 Back up.
Gillis did a horrible job and the Canucks have only one gear . Calm
I think this will be a short series and I hope they do look at making major moves in the summer. - VANTEL
I agree but if they do somehow make a late run Gillis will still back AV and do nothing in the off season. Get nothing for Luongo or Ballard. He won't bring in any secondary scoring keep the same core group together.(that someone else built)IMO. Other than brining in Hamhuis I really don't think he put his stamp on this team. |

Ferraro was in the dressing room of both teams before the game. He said Canucks were calm sedate and business as usual, while the Sharks was like a frat house . I would like to see more of a pulse and less of a European influence.
Our captain should be out banging and picking this team on his back. His brother should fire the puck and stop looking for that God Damn cylce or pass. He is paid 6.1 to be a sniper .
Keslers injury issues needs to be addressed in the off season . Either move him to wing and less roles and minutes or trade . |

I can't see them winning a series scoring 1 goal a game - VANTEL
I agree. If these games were swinging back and forth with goals and we just happened to be on the bottom end after 60 mins then so be it, we'll get them next time. If we can't score more than 1, you're basically requiring the goalie to get a shutout in order to win a game. |

I am watching this series with half interest . I don't see them being successful this year so I am not investing too much emotion. To me it just looks like more of the same old same old .
I do hope AV is gone and one or two major core players are gone .
I like the future of this team but right now I think our window has passed and we did nothing to upgrade.
I think every year a team needs to bring in two impact players or they go stale because of league parity |

I agree with this 100%. Guys with Sedin temperaments are great in the room, but they're not the type you follow into battle. One thing I've always hated about AV is he makes sure to name a "yes man" as captain to avoid an inevitable butting of heads when he's on his stubborn pea brained power trips... Even to the point of putting the "C" on a (frank)ing goaltender. |

I love the Sedins as people . I think they are exellent REGULAR SEASON players. I agree 100 % not the best to follow into battle in the playoffs.

Yeah I got to be careful about talking Sedins in a Vancouver thread.
Like I said excellent human beings ,great regular season players, but I would take a guy like Couture or P Kane on my team for the playoffs any day of the week before one of them. |

It should be said that up until the finals they were PPG players during our SCF run. I'm not sure if they are concentrating on defending too much or what but they need to concentrate entirely on scoring. Let their cycle play puck possession be their defense. Score some (frank)ing goals guys cuz clearly no one else can. |

I think a lot of blame goes to Gillis and AV
Gillis has a lot of money on players that played the bench or the IR list.
If you look at the wasted cap space this year LU as a back up 5.3 Ballard 4.2 Booth 4.2 for 1 goal Kesler 5 mil.
That is near 1/3 of the cap space on the side line . We could have had a legit center and a 2 nd liner for that. Even when Booth comes back it is a waste of money and you can get the same play from a guy half the salary.
IMO I think this team is a mess right now and there is no quick fix |

I actually think they've got some real champ spirit over there and are a few key signings away from being a regular playoff team. They're basically doing what I expected the Oilers to do this season. |

Meh, where is it written that the guys have to "follow the 'C' into battle"? There are plenty of other leaders on the team, with very different leadership qualities. There is no reason that the guys couldn't follow one of them into battle.
And for the record, I hate using the military as an analogy for sports, the guys on the ice are pansies compared to the men and women who actually put their lives on the line. I'm not pointing a finger at you specifically, just a general comment, the media is terrible for this.

Personally I think if a professional athlete needs some choice words to get galvanized in the playoffs then they're in the wrong career. |

Guys like Tanev Corrado Jensen Kassian Schneider , when going into battle ,need to know that the vets and tough guys have their back , and it is ok to be nervous.

Having never been in the room, I couldn't tell you, but AV talks about the "leadership group". I would bet Kesler, Hamhuis, Luongo, Daniel, Henrik previously Manny. I'm not suggesting that these are necessarily the guys to get the job done, only that I disagree that the Captain has to do it all in order to be effective as a leader. I think a captain has to be consistent, which you could certainly criticize Henrik for. |

We're obviously not privy to locker room talk before they get on the ice but I'd be extremely surprised if the vets weren't giving pep talks after the coach has said his piece. Whether those vets are banging the lockers with their sticks or giving Viking war cries is a different story. Not sure if that is entirely needed since it's the vets themselves that need to step up. Corrado looks calm as still water and Kassian probably needs less blood rushing to his head at times. If Schneider really does have mono (per Scooby) then all he needs to be told is stop getting with daggy chicks. |
