Unfortunately, the circus your organization has created around him probably makes him not want to give a rats as5. Knowing full well he is good as gone in the offseason, where he will reestablish himself as the known superstar goalie he is.
So you're saying Luongo isn't a give 2 weeks notice before quitting kinda guy?
I disagree. He wouldn't ditch his teammates, no matter how poorly this situation has been handled by management. |

I'm not really sure it's whining. Maybe his players are coming to the bench and telling him that. Maybe he tried saying something to the ref about it during the game and the ref didn't do anything about it.
It's kind of his job to point things out. Who knows, if Vancouver goes 50% on faceoffs tonight it worked.
There's also that chance that he just pissed the linesmen off and Vancouver will get chucked from a record number of draws for trying to show them up. - IanEsplen
The Stripes weren't great that game.... that non icing call against alberts was pretty bad... wasn't even close

Ah I see the regular drama queens in full effect in here today.
Im not too upbeat after game 1 but then again, it is only 1 game.
Afterall, in 2011, Boston went down 2-0 to Montreal in the 1st round and won the Cup.
In 2010, Chicago fell game 1 and game 3 to Nashville in Round 1 and won the cup.
In 2006, Carolina went down 2-0 to Montreal in the 1st round and won the Cup.
Now, the Canucks may not win the Cup, but 40% of Game 1 losers go on....not the most impressive stat, but still marginally less than even.....I'd save the cyanide until tonight if they lose...... |

Die hard nucks fan have been my entire life. This is he first time I can say about this team since gillis has been here that they need a change. Well see how the series goes bit I was thinking San Jose in 6. Vancouver definately lacks heart and the coaches message is old now
It appears fairly apparent with how we play our game. The year we went to the final it was because of our powerplay. How pp coach was not fired is amazing to me. We need that to work orwere done. I hope for the.best but definately for the first time in a long time I think we need a change cause there's too much talent on this team too not perform

With all the complaints about secondary scoring, why does it seem like the Sedins get a free pass. They're paid to put up points. I'm certainly not saying that secondary scoring is not required by any means but it seems like the bulk of the complaints involve the 2nd and 3rd line. The first line has to really step it up. - Canuckleafer
Secondary scoring assumes 'primary' scoring -- and the Canucks don't get that in the playoffs. |

They depend on each other. In a 7 game series, teams will shut the Sedins down as long as they're the only legit offensive threat. If AV leaves Higgins(or upgrade)/Roy/Kesler together, both lines will start producing. |

There is a set of specific criteria to get your name on the cup. I've read it before, but can't remember if Cannata will meet it.
I think someone on LA who actually played a few playoff and reg. season games got screwed over last season because he didn't meet the criteria. One of the younger guys.
Think Cannata would have actually had to play in a few games, or something. - Fosco
I think he'd be eligible (moot point) because, as a goalie, he is considered to have been in a Stanley Cup game. |

Minny in 6. Hawks barely won game 1. - bloatedmosquito
Lol ur right the Hawks baring won game 1 because it went to OT right ?!? The Hawks out played the Wild in the 2nd and 3rd and did all that while sucking..... They wake up and play their game and the Wild have zero chance. Dont forget we are known to suck in game 1's. Hawks in 5 and a sweep is also very possible. |

They missed a Burrows trip that led to about 40 seconds of pressure in the 2nd. Mostly though, i thought the linesmen were off. |

This team is a joke. Hopefully a major overhaul will be done this summer, because this group is going nowhere fast.
I'll be watching more Oilers hockey next year if its status quo, at least there is something to look forward to with them, instead of the heartless efforts of this current garbage roster, along with garbage management. - vancanuck1
I don,t think the Canucks are a joke, it is that their best players Hank and Daniel are past their "best before date" and they obviously don,t have enough secondary scoring coming from their other lines. They will need to look at quite a few changes in the off season to try and return to being an elite team again. It will be difficult for them because their top guys are approaching the downside of their careers. |

I disagree about the Sedins best before date. Their skillsets are timeless... Like Jamie Moyer's pitching style. It's not like they rely on youthful energy/speed/physical strength... They just need better support (like a cleanup hitter).

Why the pessimism? So we lost a game, big (frank)in deal.
Detroit lost a game.
Anaheim lost a game.
Los Angeles lost two games.
Montreal lost a game.
NYR lost a game. - LeftCoaster
I can't see them winning a series scoring 1 goal a game |

I guess we will have to wait and see how they perform next season , stats wise etc , if they have another sub par season like this one , decisions will have to be made. |

As much as I think Garret is an imbecile most of the time (who the @#$@# cares that you like to eat Nabisco's Shredded Turnip Soup!), I think he made a good point the other night; namely, that the Canucks seemed to be looking to make the big hit at the expense of making an actual play. Hitting and wearing down an opponent is an excellent strategy but not at the cost of taking away from YOUR game. |

Sooooo, Luongo goes on a run (Schneider sidelined), Canucks win the cup and Cannata gets his name on the cup without ever playing a minute in the NHL. Has that ever happened? - 1970vintage
