Yeah, you really aren't a lot of fun to have around. You don't have to be a super fan but cheering against your own team isn't something that needs to happen in the playoffs.
- micah555

I don't understand how I am "not a lot if fun" and that "I cheer against my team"? I have been here a while, and I can't recall cheering against my team. You will have to forgive me -43 years of losing has left a bit of scar tissue (stollen from another board)

Yeah, they had McGinn and some other rugged dudes in the past. Torres is exactly what the playoffs are about. He's an animal and he helps his team win.
- micah555

He's exactly what the Canucks need in the bottom 6.

That was a brutal trade. They should have never shipped Ginner out.

They're working hard, they just can't score. Simple as that.

You obviously aren't local then... Oh the whining when they brought him in. Sharks fans are really good at quoting stats as if it predetermines everything. For far too long the Sharks are a great example of Hard Work Beating Talent when Talent Doesn't Work Hard. How many of those Sharks fans that $itched for days about Torres are now thumping their chest as if they knew all along???

I was happy with our acquiring of Torres from the start. Especially with getting rid of Clowe, I definitely wanted someone like Torres. My only trepidation was if he ended up doing those horrible dirty plays. So far he seems to be doing a good job of not crossing that line while still keeping the intensity up.

It's not even just Bieksa.

It's that guys like Hamhuis and Garrison, as good as they've been most of the year, still make similar mistakes from time to time, and get a free pass.

Hamhuis has still had a decent year, but IMO, he hasn't been as solid as the previous two.

Garrison has been the best ever since he got the early rust shaken off. Now that he's adjusted to the right side (don't know why they didn't try him there earlier instead of Edler), put him with Edler, and put the tried and tested pairing of Bieksa and Hamhuis back together.

Hamhuis had a big give away to the front of the net earlier.

Kesler looked like a mad dog tonight. Like Torres I hate to play against him and Luongo is doing an admirable job in net despite the media around him.

I loved it when we got Torres. But I was just a bit concerned that he wouldn't play hockey and become the freak show he can be. He's playing with heart and epitomizes what a playoff player is, like Kesler did tonight.

I'll be at the game on Sunday. Cinco De Mayo in San Jose, playoff game...should be interesting.

Honestly, those 'dirty plays' of his are just huge hit by a loose cannon. Any time a guy gets hurt on a big hit it's dirty these days. Players need to keep their heads up, especially when a guy like Raffi is on the loose. He doesn't hit from behind, he doesn't go for knees... He might catch guys a half a second late and he might catch them high when they are bent over. Either way, it's the kind of rough hockey that is a celebrated tradition. I love his game. He's no Matt Cooke.

Why the pessimism? So we lost a game, big (frank)in deal.

Detroit lost a game.
Anaheim lost a game.
Los Angeles lost two games.
Montreal lost a game.
NYR lost a game.

Sharks got the puck luck. They were outplayed, but still won. It happens.

And you'll notice, after AV made his comment, the Canucks had much better results in the circle. Who knows if the comments had any effect on the Sharks approach, but they might have been a bit more cautious this game.

- Fosco

Uh, Sharks had anything BUT puck luck tonight. We hit two posts, had hard times getting the puck to settle and make solid passes tonight. Not to mention a disallowed goal that could have been called a good goal (I get it to a point, but how do you disallow a goal because the goaltender was interfered with, but then not call a penalty because you know it was cause of his own player?...isn't that like admitting it should be a good goal?) The times that Canucks were "dominating" tonight wasn't so much due to their "superior" play as to our turning off...we hand wrapped that second goal. We had a rough night and didn't play well, but when we did score, it was due to hard work...not luck.

Close!!

Don't worry guys, I'll be feeling your pain tonight with a much more lopsided score than a 1 goal game.

The Canucks would be up 2-0 if Schneider was playing.

And Kadri would be providing offensive punch to your second line.

And Gardiner would still be in the minors.

The leafs would be up 1-0.

That first pick would be nice...

This series would be FUGLY if Luongo didn't make huge saves to keep this team in it. The guy got hung out to dry. Outside of he and Kesler, and maybe Garrison, none of the core players have done their jobs yet in this series.

I think that could be part of it. I don't like him paired with Bieksa, either.

It's been a bad year. Very little consistency in the entire lineup, but Edler's been one of the worst beneficiaries of it.

Started playing his off-side w/ Garrison; then was playing his off-side w/ Hamhuis; then gets switched to his correct side w/ Bieksa, which is just not a good pairing; then Bieksa's injured and he gets put w/ Alberts for a bit; Bieksa's back; Bieksa's hurt; then paired w/ Corrado, who he actually looked good with...

And all this was coming of an injury and no camp. Next year will be the real test for Edler.

- Fosco

What I've noticed this past season is that the Canucks don't have a good, complementary Dman to partner with Edler. Edler's not the sharpest tool in the woodshed -- hockey-wise (IMO). He seems to get confused defensively and has usually but 2 moves offensively -- shoot it or dump it down the boards (seemingly without knowing if any Canucks player is actually there). Tanev may be a good partner for him in the long run -- he's defensively sound and can be counted on to back up his partner. Edler needs to be coached how to play in front of his own net -- he's pretty weak there and doesn't seem to know what to do too often. He has a lot of potential but it's not coming out to this point -- in fact, I think he's regressed. He's not the reason the Canucks are behind in this series, but he is definitely one of the reasons. To me, his development is incredibly disappointing.

1. He isn't.

2. Luongo has been your best player by a mile.

3. We too have injuries to Havlat, Gomez and Demers.
