In one game he made one suspect play that unfortunately ended up in a goal. Sure, that's not great, but the negativity is completely overblown.
Last game he was getting comments like "beast" when it was 0-0.
Then the Canucks lose, and he's getting blamed—yet he still finished plus-1 in a 3-1 loss (so clearly wasn't a factor in the goals against), had 5 sog, over 27 minutes TOI, and 3 hits.
Does that look like a worthy scapegoat? - Fosco
No, but he sure as hell does not look like a number one, highest paid ( contract wise, next year) defense man..
i considered myself one of the most positive fans here, and yet at this point, as long as a sweep results in a AV firing il be optimistic in regards to next season. |

I know it's frustrating but it's not over until it's over. Vancouver has the talent to come back, they just news to find a way to make it happen. |

It wasn't the smartest play, and he's had his worst year in a Canucks uniform, but even in his worst season he's been a productive player who leads the D in several categories.
It is what it is. I not so smart play that was followed by an unlucky bounce.
I've acknowledged many who point out his shortcomings are correct, but the negativity is overkill—what other D on the team has his every mistake brought up to this degree? Hamhuis and Garrison both made mistakes that game, and throughout the year, so did Bieksa, but are they subject to the same scrutiny?
Look at the mistake Karlsson made in the game today. And OTT won't even use him on the PK—Edler logs a lot of PK time, and has been effective.
Hell, Hamhuis made a horrible play that led to the Canucks getting ousted last season, yet it was still Edler that got blamed.

That was unfortunate. Miss the empty net, never regain control, lose the game to the guy we should have gotten on our team. If we lose this series, Gillis should be fired for not finding a way to outbid SJ's 3rd round pick for a guy that is built for rough, tough playoff hockey.
Good on SJ. They were outplayed most of the game but kept it close and capitalized on their chances.
Uphill fight from here and obviously it's hard to like our chances. Still, if the Canucks can keep playing like they did tonight and actually score a few more goals, they have a hope. - micah555
Raffi Torres = Mayhem on ice pots the OT winner. Can't believe I am happy over him scoring. The guy can play maybe after almost killing Hossa plus a 25 gamer finally got through to his hardened smug cranium. Ditch the idiocy and concentrate on playing and he gets it done. If Matt Cooke can change his ways so can Torres.
I thought coming into this series...Niemi would be reason the Sharks win this series and so far so good. I expect the Nucks to get 1 in Sharkland, I doubt they get 2. This looks like a 6 game series in favor of Sharks.
I wonder what AV blames this loss on...1st loss was Sharks cheating on faceoffs...what now? |

Sharks got the puck luck. They were outplayed, but still won. It happens.
And you'll notice, after AV made his comment, the Canucks had much better results in the circle. Who knows if the comments had any effect on the Sharks approach, but they might have been a bit more cautious this game. |

Yeah, I apologize for that. You could have phrased it a little differently if you actually wanted to make a legit point, though.
But I guess your follow up sentence here confirms the type of person you are

He was, yes.
Because he consistently logs the most ice time of any Vancouver D, as well as the most difficult matchups. And his corsi rel QOC confirms he's pretty effective in that role.
I've addressed this in several other posts. I really don't feel you're worth explaining it to again. |

Hmmm -maybe a bit less ice and a lot better Edler would be the result? |
