Holtby's ass was in the net, no doubt. if the call on the ice was a good goal then I guarantee you then the call would have stood after review because there was no conclusive evidence that the puck was NOT in the net. It all came down to the call on the ice. The puck could have been in Holtbys glove 6 inches into the net, or it could have been sandwiched between the post and Holtby's right asscheak. Moot point now but the Ref was the one who ultimately had the call on what was going to happen with that shot.
I told a few of my Ranger fan buddies that if you guys can contain Ovie and Backstrom and Lundqvist plays his game, the Rangers will be fine in this series. Unfortunately for the Isles, they have a lot more to contain that just 2 guys. I personally think the Rangers series is their to lose.

They were the better team I thought. I'm not worried till a loss tomorrow. However, much different feel then last year, very frustrating team this year. Game 1 was the year in a nutshell

Awesome game Isles. Played a perfect game.

Beat us all over the ice. Even on the Penguins boards we were saying that was the most uncomfortable 3 to 1 lead since well last year.

5 to go, your advantage. See you Sunday.

Different game tonight!!!

One thing they have to do.... is when the Pens cross the blueline, hit them hard.

I know they don't really have the most physical "D"... but they have to step up.

Best D tonight was Vis... amazing skater!!!

Sunday will be great... I really think they take the series lead!!!

Not sure what game you watched, but the Isles were hitting everywhere. Dump and hit, get dumped and hit.

Sort of like the Penguins when they are on their game.

Honestly this was a bad Penguin game, but I give the Isles credit they dominated the physical play in pretty much every aspect.

Enjoy it, Sunday is going to say alot about both teams. Can't wait.

agreed. still the penguins series to lose, but they really are trying to make it harder on themselves.

we took our playoff mulligan, time to move on and get ready for game 3. will be interesting to see how we come out sunday.

It's no longer the Penguins' series to lose. It's a Best-of-5 and the Islanders have home-ice advantage.

I think what shocked me the most about this game was the fact that the Penguins really had nothing after Fleury gave up that "Ricky Special" to Okposo (by the way Pens fans, if you ever wondered what it was like to have Rick DiPietro on your team, that fourth Islander goal last night pretty much sums it up nicely for you....except in his case, it probably would have gone in off the back of his head, since he'd have been making snow angels on the ice by the time it got back to him). I thought for sure Nabokov was going to face the firing squad from he11 after that, and.....nothing.

I guess after being outscored 8-1, after four periods, and losing to them all year, our boys finally got pi*sed off, and it kind of shocked the Pittsburgh team a little bit- they were coasting up to that point. Anger is the best medicine to get rid of awe, and I'm glad they finally got tired of being pushed around.

Hopefully, we can keep that up on Sunday- as Nabokov said in the post game interview, every game will only get harder from here on out. The good news is that it looks like our boys finally remembered what they were doing up until the Winnipeg game that was bringing them success . I'll take five more games of them playing like that, thanks- that's pretty much all I ask. As I've often said, actually winning is secondary; if they ALWAYS play like that, chances are they'll win most of the time.

I think the problem with your team is that they don't seem to pay the same price to score goals that they are willing to pay to prevent them. The rely too much on their talent in the offensive end of the ice, instead of jamming the crease and hacking away.
