They were taken by surprise for sure. The scary thing is I believe that they have a better chance winning Saturdays game than either game at the ACC...

May be true. But as good as Boston may have played they still allowed 2 full breakaways and JVR to walk in 1 on 2 and nearly roof it, so even as bad as the LEafs looked, they still showed they can find holes in the Bruins. If they can settle down and play smarter, they should be fine. I still think this is a 6 or 7 gamer.

We are tough, Bruins are tougher... therefore we need to play to our strength's... our speed.

In: Frattin, Hamilton, Gardiner

Out: Orr, McClaren, Kostka

FYI: only Leafs win against Boston this season Gardiner was plus 2 with 20+ minute of ice time, while Hamilton and Frattin both collected an assist and were plus 1 and plus 2 respectively.

In the shootout loss a couple of nights later Gardiner set up a beauty for Lupul.

Orr also had a wide open net and it went off a stick and over the cross bar...Leafs had some chances, but need to manage the puck better. Even when players had room and space they somehow managed to mishandle the puck and it would bounce right onto a Bruin stick. Their confidence just disappeared as the game went on and they could not make a play.

would you bench a goalie who stopped 36 of 40 shots in a 4-1 loss where the Bruins outchanced the Leafs 2 to 1?

No offense bud, dumb question. There are 16 other players in last nights game who you could pick on other than the goalie. Orr/McClaren and Grabo are the only ones besides Reimer who showed up.

JVR had some drive as well, a few good rushes, but were solo efforts vs team.

Ya they looked nervous, like a 2nd youngest team in the league would, if they get over that hump they should make it close in the end.

Last night, the Leafs has the heebie-jeebies.

From 0 playoffs to the Boston Garden.... game 1 was going to be a loss. But Boston should have SMOKED the Leafs.... but they didn't. Many Leaf breakdown were not due to boston dominance but falling over their own feet and Phaneuf looked like ... well...... a moron.

These things will not be repeated.

Prediction: Bruins 3 Leafs 0............ in possible suspendable actions.

Score: Leafs 4 Bruins 2 with an empty net.

This is why we should make them younger by inserting gardiner/frattin/hamilton.

He was good in the first and when he got on the ice in the 3rd. I guess my issue with him wasn't so much him, it was his line (outside of the PP). That play he hit the post or crossbar, why didn't he play the puck after? why did he try to hit the bruin instead with his puck just sitting there.

Yeah what the Hell was that?
Bozak is our best (and only, really) shootout guy. He gets a breakaway and tanks it.
I'm not sure which briun it was but his stick was definitely by the gloves of Bozak. I don't think that's allowed anymore. It wasn't really a penalty in my opinion, but I've seen weaker calls than that this year.

You really hate Phaneuf eh? You're surprisingly positive today, but I thought Phaneuf was the only d-man last night that actually resembled an NHL d-man. Notice I didn't say #1 d-man or #2 d-man.

Younger? Team speed was not why they lost. But it was youth that got them here... I just do not see playoff hockey and youth having a successful cup run based on history.

Maybe I am being influenced by Don Les Cherry but the video he highlighted of Phaneuf was plenty bad. Plenty. Did you see it? Google it if you can. I know it was only a snapshot of the game but he made multiple mistakes on that single play to the point he was totally lost in his own zone.

My "hate" for him is confided to the fact he is the Captain. He makes way too many mistakes for others to look up to him.
