I don't think the wind knocked out explains the head snapping back or the immediate unconsciousness.
Also, looking at the position of the bodies, the chest contact was glancing at best. a glancing blow to the chest will not wind someone or knock them out. A glancing blow to the head/lower jaw will though. - Aetherial
the sad thing is - this hit was cleaner than the elbow to grabovski's head and knowing shanny this will get more attention due to the injury.

Too much Hab content not enough Leaf content, according to HBLC, (Hockey Buzz Leaf Commission) we must supply at least 75% Leaf talk. |

Dozzer, the NHL will rule that similar to a person is responsible for control of his stick, whether its a high stick or not. That he will rule, if it was a head shot, that it was reckless. regardless of his size. |

I think Shanny will suspend just because of the result. But the hit to me is a hockey play.
Guys shouldn't be punished because the other team throws a suicide pass and Eller had his head down. Seems like the league is becoming a place where the responsibility is not on the player to keep his head up.

i thought only pertained to elbows coming up.. if the force is distributed between the head and chest is it an illegal hit?
either way.. dont care.. suspend him for a game or two just to shut everyone up lol |

Push a little after the whistle is now 4 minutes, plus a 10 minute misconduct and throw in a game misconduct for good measure, the NEW NHL. |

In the NHL's eyes, if you hit a players body and also head it's clean. Only when you only contact the head is it a problem. He didn't hit just head. |

Shanahan will suspend based on injury. If this was an illegal hit, Chara should have been suspended many, many times. |

Enough about the Habs, and what was ultimately an unfortunate result of a legal hit.
I want to know what the Leafs can do to diminish Chara's neutralization of Kessel.
Do you move Kessel to a 3rd/4th line to just mess with the match-ups? Do you move Kessel to the other wing? Does Kessel just float in the neutral zone behind Chara on occasion to try and stretch things out? You know like Bure used to do in the old days?
Ultimately I think the only real solution is for the 2nd and 3rd lines to step up their production and make the fact that Chara is stuck to Kessel like glue a moot point.
Also I want to see Gardiner/Frattin/Hamilton in the lineup. The only reason I say Hamilton is that he is a big boy who stood up and hit Chara a few times and blocked a few of his shots in the reg season. |

Exactly right.
That is why I hate that they consider the injury.
Sh1t like Ference pulled should get 10 games, minimum.
Sheesh years ago didn't Domi get 10 games for sucker punching Samuelsson (who deserved it more than any player who ever played)... The Ference shot was at least as bad.

When I tuned in, the Leafs were winning 1-0.
Within 5 minutes they were down 2-1 after some bad breaks went against them.
It was me who cursed them. I am not going to watch on Saturday

Whatever line you move Kessel to is the #1 line, unless he lines up with Orr and McClaren.
... I actually thought about putting Orr up there to just go out and hit Chara all game long.
