he was knocked out, its possible he was KO'd with a head shot, OR possibly hit so hard in the chest he was winded and blacked out from that.

either way, he is bleeding because he hit the ice, not because a shoulderpad or anything else.

The contact to the chest was glancing at best. Do you think it was strong enough to cause a head to snap back with such force that it knocked him cold. Clearly, he is out before he hits the ice, he did not even attempt to stop the faceplant.

There was contact to the head/chin area. That is the only way someone goes out instantly.

I don't think the wind knocked out explains the head snapping back or the immediate unconsciousness.

Also, looking at the position of the bodies, the chest contact was glancing at best. a glancing blow to the chest will not wind someone or knock them out. A glancing blow to the head/lower jaw will though.
