You guys also have to remember than Rielly isn't an NHL proven defenseman yet, while Coots is an NHL proven forward. Rielly might get up and just not be able to compete. It doesn't happen often with players of his potential but it's still something that would have to be discussed if a trade like this were being seriously discussed between our GMs

Nobody on the CBC roundtable thinks the hit on Eller was suspendable.

So the leafs may not need him then ... If they have those 3
But I think a move with gards 2 phillly is a good idea ... Good puck mover But since we have Reilly so he's expendable

Ya it would be for sure but not for couturier as someone here suggested Like I said Couturier could get us Rielly not Gardiner

So, is anyone for the idea that vanilla bacon would actually taste pretty damn good?

It wasn't. Clean hit, unfortunate outcome.

Bacon already tastes pretty damn good. Any tinkering and you're just ruining it.

Right but look at it this way. I view Gardiner this year being equal to what Schenn was last year to you. Now JVR is good, but Couturier's potential is much better than JVR's. JVR will be a great 2nd liner to decent 1st liner. Couturiers potential is great 1st liner and possibly elite forward if he surpasses his potential by a little bit, but for the sake of it let's stick with good/great 1st liner.

Karma for that gift 5 Min major for a great, legal hit.

Leafs sure could have used a 5 min PP for Ferrence's elbow to the face on Grabo. Suspension doesn't do much for the team...

blindside, at some point head contact was made, Eller was out cold when he hit the ice.

AT some point the NHL has to get serious about this. Players are getting injured and they are quick to come up with all sorts of excuses why it was a "clean hit".

I want the thinking to change to the player making the BLINDSIDE hit is responsible for the consequences.

- Aetherial

can't agree with any of this. Suicide pass. You can't just skate around with your head down looking behind you and not expect to get run over.

And I don't think there was contact to the head either - head barely moves on the hit.(though, it definitely wasn't head first, so moot point - head contact isn't illegal) If he hit his head it would have snapped back. Think he was just so stunned from the collision he didn't have awareness to protect himself when he hit the ice.

That was a text book open ice hit. Eller has to be aware of where he is - he completely exposed himself.

Shoulder to face! Suspend Grybas, suspend Diaz and Suspend Eller. All 3 were involved on a dirty play that we want out of Hockey.

(frank) no, they were the only line doing jack poop. Besides Grabo and Reims.
