who's the dude that said you guys are 2 years away from being on par with the stanley cup champs pens?

last night showed otherwise....last night actually gave me more confidence in the fact that you guys are gonna be a mediocre bubble team for a few more years and possibly on the outside looking in more often than not once nabbys done.

right here... but i wont get an argument with a rangers troll based off of 1 game AND regarding somethign that we wont have an answer for another 2 years.

how about this, take out your Power Rangers calendar, and flip to May 2015, once that day comes, feel free to bring this up.

fwiw, id be willing to bet you wouldnt have been such a tough guy last week after a month-long no losing streak...

Yup. 1000%. And the guy who hired him is equally at fault because i dont believe for one second that Cappy has autonomy of the players who dress or even the tie that he wears on gamenight. Garth is a puppet master and we all got to see just how brilliant he really isn't. The Penguins upgraded with Iginla at the deadline. The Islanders welcomed back Joennsu from injury and activated him. (No fault or knock on Jesse- he had to suffer like the rest of us watching) our only hope for reasoner is shanahan reviews his penalty and hands down a 50 game suspension. If things continue like this, i hope the #15 pick is a good one.
- jmo16

you are 100% correct. Not saying another coach would have decided the outcome but I bet for damn sure it would not have been 5-0. No timeout no emotion no nothing from the guy. He was clueless you can tell from his face he was saying crap.

I honestly think that JAck really thought there was no way this team will make the playoffs so he had no game plan. The Islanders came out unmotivated skated around for 60 minutes and lost. If he though they played a good game well then he should be fired on the spot

Are you crazy? In a full season the Isles would have had 50 wins and would have won the Presidents Trophy. The math was already done 2 days ago.

What team are you watching?

You have over $56 million committed to the salary cap next year already with a cap of $64 mil...
You still have:
Cooke, Murray, Adams, Dupuis Morrow and Iginla left to sign. So it's a given (IMO) that Iginla MUST walk, as well as Morrow. Dupuis will likely command $4 mil alone and Cooke will look for a similar deal give or take a small amount. Then you have Kunitz, Malkin, Sutter, Orpik, Latang, Niskanen and Jokinen all in need of extensions through the folllowing season. That's tough sledding.

- keaner17

Must walk? Dude, We have the BEST GM in the NHL with regards to making the cap work. You have no idea who is walking and who is staying. Dupes will stay in Pittsburgh for less. Could it be a deal is coming? Maybe someone like Niskanen gets dealt in the offseason for a second or third round pick, clearing space. I bet Engelland could be going. Adams really isn't a priority.

UMM ... cap wll be going up after next year, so you have room to play. Malkin isn't getting more than Crosby and he loves playing in Pittsburgh. Orpik is the guy that could be gone.

Really, its not rocket science. You assume to think you know what the Pens are about, but don't have any idea of who is a priority and who could be sent packing.

I think letting Letang walk is an awful idea. Despres is a good prospect, but Letang is a Norris-caliber defenseman. I think they'd be better off trading Malkin for a top-flight winger (Benn, Ryan, etc.) and some high picks. Just better balance, assuming Crosby is healthy.
- jmatchett383

I'm not wild about letting him walk either, but he simply may command too high a number. Its more likely that they trade him in the offseason if he can't be re-signed. As for Malkin, once the Pens made the decision to trade Staal, they became committed to Malkin, so he isn't going anywhere. We are very fortunate that we have Shero at the helm who seems to be able to work magic to keep this core togetherand an organization where players love to play, so I'm not that worried about it in all honesty. People have been predicting the deconstruction of the Penguins due to cap issues for years now and yet it never happens.

We'll see...it's all speculation from both sides 'dude'. But I have my doubts you'll have Iginla back next year.

umm ok if you come out with no life the coaching staff has to get some blame for not pumping the guys up. They were flat footed and were not interested in playing.

Capuano needs to coach bottom line something he does not have a clue about. He needs to strategize another area he has no clue about. He needs to come up with some set plays another area he has no clue about. The list goes on and on and half the blame is on him for doing nothing. Not switching up lines not calling a timeout not even yelling in there ears. It was like it is ok here have Fanta

someone will offer iginla a lot of money for a year or 2.

the question is how good is that team...if that team is a potential contender, i can see him going there. if not, i can see him staying in pitt for a little cheaper.

Well, I think that keeping Crosby-Malkin-Letang is really what you need. Dupuis is my example. He's a very good complimentary 3rd liner with speed and some finish. Put him in the Penguins lineup and the dude is basically a 30 goal scorer.

I'm not saying anyone can be a superstar with Crosby, but you don't need to have top-line talent (though it would help). I would think they won't let go of any of Crosby, Malkin, MAF, or Letang. Agree Orpik could go, maybe Kunitz. Doubt Morrow and Iginla both stay, maybe 1. They'll make it work somehow.
