The biggest issue to me is the first line.
They double cover JT in the nuetral zone so JT does the right thing and passes it off to Moulson or Boyes. Moulson and Boyes dump it in to send the other in to chase. Problem is, they are both too slow to dump and chase.

The Pengins are going to show that the Islanders are an AHL team with an AHL coach...
- kear20

AHL team? Are you kidding me? Yeah we have some prospects on the team (Bailey, Okposo, Neilsen) but beyond that I don't know how you can consider this even close to an AHL team.

Please. Give him a break. He's a prospect. He'll mature into one of the best goalies in the league.

Seriously I believe that!

Both Boyes and Moulson are too slow to play together. It puts too much pressure on JT.
- keaner17

Speaking of slow the defense looks very slow. Streit especially. No way this guy should be brought back.

....annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnndddddddddddddd, that's why I didn't want to play Pittsburgh. Any questions? Just want to make sure no one else is confusing "whining" with "stating facts". Now you know why I was so angry with Capuano for not properly preparing them for the mighty Buffalo Sabres, and why I still think he needs to be fired. Oh....and one other thing.....it's also a good example of why we need a couple of bruisers on the back end to knock helmets off in front of our own net.

All of that said, this team needs to worry about its own end of the ice, exclusively, for the rest of the series. It's their only prayer of not getting totally blown out of the building, four nights in a row.

No way.. Goalies who are 23 and haven't started an entire season NEVER make it in the NHL.

Most of your team has never played playoff hockey... Ottawa showed us how in our first matchup

That's crazy. It's obvious when you actually watch him that he has the makings of becoming a franchise goalie for years to come.

See what I mean?

The pens aren't making nearly as many mistakes as last year. This team is better, possibly better than even Pens fans recognize. Do you guys think that the shot to Nabys head effected his game?
- cranktheradio

No, but I do think our team's desire to play pond hockey instead of trapping and dumping the puck is definitely affecting everything that is going on tonight, and will continue to, unless someone COACHES them at some point.

Our coach is cr*p. How can a team be THIS unprepared to play a hockey game?

Ugh...sad to see this happen. Hopefully this game is a lesson and they can learn from this. I'm sure losing like this will hopefully fire them up for game two. Just don't want to get shut out.

I think it's sad to see but I don't really think it's embarrassing. This was exactly what was expected if you made an honest assessment of the series.

I really would have preferred if he sat Strait and Reasoner and played Martinek and Joensuu. Not saying we'd be nipping at their heels but both players have played into 3of the 5 goals. This game is lost, but they need to reestablish what got them here.

Fortunately Reasoner is there to be our steadying force. Taking penalties and missing assignments
- keaner17

Playing Reasoner was dumb. JJ was playing well. It's not like Reasoner was a key in making the playoffs. This game makes me want to see guys like Strome and Nelson. I can think of a couple of guys I would sit in their place.

Ok, I'm going to make a serious post based on common sense here. Hopefully I won't be banned.

Just a thought, HOW ABOUT WE START A FIGHT?

I mean really. You are down 5 to nothing. DROP THE GLOVES. Someone, anyone, just grab a guy and throw punches. Don't care who it is, get thrown out, whatever. They should have done it at 2-0. Now with 5-0 they have no choice. Change momentum and maybe you lose 5-3. Keep going this way and it will be 8-0.

This is an embarrassment because the team came out with nothing...

You know what, this and you arent worth my time at the moment.
As an Islanders fan, you have left my speechless...

Strait has struggled since coming back from the injury. Jack has decisions to make for game two.

Strait was the first mistake, a few days ago- I know he was good in the beginning of the year, but you don't change the tires when you're running in front. He should have left the lineup that was winning alone.....he should have done a lot of things....

I'm an Islander fan, yes. But this is exactly what I expected. It's exactly what every NHL analyst and NHL reporter expected as well. It's a blowout and most likely will continue.

It's sad to see because I want the guys to gain some confidence from the experience. But I'm not embarrassed by it because it was expected.

I think it needs to happen. We're allowing ourselves to get totally abused but the Isles are doing this to themselves. No one is moving their feet and we're physically paying for it.
