Dont hate the bruins. Hate the leafs for playing like a bunch of pussies. Hello Mclaren and Orr, its your job to smash these guys into the boards, etc. and a few open ice hits by phaneuf and fraser wouldn't hurt either....

Ah but see, you can't play the "what if" card: Orr and McLaren are playing and they will continue to play and probably more minutes each game.
Again, not saying the Leafs are the "better" team, but can we save the boo-hoo Leafs rhetoric until a) the series is over (and I still think we're going to lose) b) they start playing like they did in the season series against Boston? - gravyface
See Also, Senators, Ottawa.
Remember when they thought that bringing in Rob Ray would help them finally beat the Leafs?
They failed to understand or address the real meaning of being physically tough as a team. Orr and McClaren are great for the regular season. The WHOLE TEAM has to be willing to pay the price in the playoffs. Boston is tough, with very few exceptions. Our real toughness is guys who are liabilities elsewhere.

And beat them half the time? Im down!
I can see why you guys hate them now. Was actually a fan of their team before this series started, even with the reg season domination. Last night changed everything. I finally remember what the playoffs feel like, and right now, they feel like a face plant into a pile of camel poop. - systemtool
Rivalries are born in the playoffs. Simple as that.

Exactly!
We had mean guys who could fight, hit, score, play both ends of the ice. We used to have Roberts, Tucker, Corson, Green, Clark, Nolan. Even Sundin didnt get pushed around. More to the point though, at this time of year you also need those veterans who have been here and done that. This team hardly has any of that. By a wide margin.

I bet 1 game... Cause it's playoffs.
Or 0 cause its Shanny - robin_steele264
if he's getting a hearing, he'll get something, it was way too obvious to not suspend him and I don't think his "I have no idea what you're talking about" is gonna work on Sheriff Shanny

They kicked our asses. We might have handed it to them, if we could actually carry it for more than a blink of an eye. Noo...they slapped us around and took it. - systemtool
I'm not as 'cut my wrists' as some about last night. Big underdog getting their feet wet and playing against a veteran team that has already won it all together.
The first 10 minutes they played playoff hockey ...battled for pucks, finished every check, skated hard. Scoring the goal was a bonus.
Then they played February hockey and got punished for it. If they learn from it ..good. If not then figure out why and make some changes.
So we get our first Canadian victory tonight. Looking forward to this series - this back to back start might lead to a little rough stuff.

.... That was one of the most physical games in recent memory. That 4th line was hitting everything in sight

Experience and confidence are probably the biggest factors.
This Boston team is almost identical to the team that won the cup a few years ago. The Leafs are a very young team, with a lot of guys playing their first playoff series.
Hey, if they could pull off an upset, great.
There is definitely no excuse for some of the crappy play last night.
Let's not forget though, the uphill battle the Leafs are facing here.

Yup. Well said.
Hopefully last night serves as a rude awakening and sparks this team for a great game Saturday.

Sounded very ominous.

Neil always shows up for this type of game. He and Prust are... how can I say, VERY good friends.
