Hi guys,

I was looking at the Pens' capgeek and noticed they have a lot of agents come this summer. Will they be getting issues with the cap and resigning players?

- Bearintheforest

Players like Iginla and Morrow are likely just rental players for this year's Cup run, and probably won't be re-signed. The Pens will be tight to the Cap as will most top teams with the Cap going down next year.

myers would be a guy i would gamble on. EJ has never shown any indication of being more than a 2nd pair guy. on a lower tier, mcbain could develop into a yandle-lite. there are others, but those are a few that come to mind.

Sherman's ripe for another good fleecing/Feastering...

Rutherford and Regier would be tougher marks.

I think EJ gets a bad wrap. He's actually pretty darned good defensively... his offensive role on the team has been cut, especially on PP where they like to run 5 forwards on their 1st-unit, so the numbers have taken a hit. He also has trouble getting his shots through... but as of now, he's a solid #2 on most teams with a lot of headroom yet.

i had heard the COL beat writer or columnist on XM saying that he's more of a money guy than a personnel one and his moves seem to bare that out. EJ is nothing real special though, imo. will always leave you wanting more.

He's got literally everything that Seth Jones has, maybe not as likely to lead a rush, but everything else is still there. He's also had very little help -- we like to think the Flyers' D looks like a band of misfits, but the Avs' D is a degree or two worse.... he's like Luke Schenn w/o Timo.

I wouldn't shut the book on Johnson just yet. His attitude is good and he plays a hard game, so there's still hope he'll turn it around. Case in point, it took Chara a long six-seasons to really put it all together w/ the Sens, but look at him now.

So let me get this straight... Couts and 2 1sts OR Couts, a 1st, 2nd, 3rd AND Meszy for Shea Weber and .... wait, just Hamilton?

I immediately thought of Zanon and Shane O'Brien when I read that.
Zanon just looks sort of crazy.

i think luke schenn played better without timmo and got way better as more responsibilities were thrown on him...bad comparison.

great HNIC intro for the playoffs this year. the only flyers in the entire spot is a split second of the hammer, and umberger getting crushed by campbell. most of the footage is of current playoff teams. makes sense. yet others are in the there. jersey among others. nothing of clarke or parent or any even great "recent" moments like that from primeau or jr or even giroux in the finals or last year against pittsburgh.

it makes me crazy. crazy.

You have to start viewing the Flyers like people did alternative rock prior to 1991. You love them more because they are underappreciated. Also, because doing it this way is beneficial to your blood pressure.

Eric just toyed with people in the faceoff circle.

Sometimes he'd ignore the puck and just barrel over the other guy.

Sometimes he'd win it clean.

And I'm pretty sure he's the first guy I ever saw shoot and score directly from the faceoff.

Dude was a menace in the faceoff circle.

- johndewar

You must too young to remember Rick Macleish. He was the best I ever saw at shooting right off the faceoff, used to score 3 or 4 of those every year.
