Stalbergs stock is definitely on the rise, but he is in no way a 4-5 mil a year player. That is an extreme overpayment at a time when the cap is decreasing, at least for the next couple of years. Will there be some GM that pays that amount? Maybe, you can never say no, but the number of teams that can throw that kind of cash around is limited. Tallon threw stupid money at some guys in Fla, he gave Kopecky $3mil, which most people will consider an overpayment, yet if you look at stats Kopecky out-produced Stalberg (15 goals to 9, 27 pts, to 23).

The high-end of the Stalberg market should probably be 3.5 mil. for 3 years. If he continues to improve he cashes in on the next one.

- TheTrob

If by high-end you mean 3.5M per year for 3 years...10.5M total...I agree.

Some GM will pay him alot of coin this offseason...hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it.

I like the idea of Bolland at 3C and Shaw moving down to play with Kruger and Frolik. That 4th line just got more dangerous. I don't think Q will be worried about that 3rd line being downgraded with one of the best checking centers in the league slotting there.
- ilinkhawk

That would be fine if he could stay healthy. As it is I like the idea of Bolland playing in the Eastern Conference next season.

Haven't you heard, Phil?

Saw a teammate tweet that Bollus' phagina was hurting.

OK, so I don't know how to use the sarcasm font . . . .

Oh yes, Eli, SteveRain I think has the planning almost complete. If Bollus comes back to play this year, it might be considered the 8th wonder of the (sports) world. I think we should just give Bollus the "man of glass" moniker. He's just not what I expect out of a hockey player -- baseball, yes -- basketball, yes -- hockey, NO WAY.

Many are ripping on good old Patrick Sharp and while I agree he hasn't earned anywhere near his new salary -- it's clear he's playing hurt and sacking up as best as could be expected. THAT is why Sharpie is wearing an "A" on his jersey.

And why Bollus sits once again.

The myth that is Dave Bolland hopefully continues long enough into summer to get something of value for him. Let someone else deal with his inability to see the ice on a regular basis.

oops, sorry, got off-track there. Bollus party. Yes. Now we are going to be tasked to come up with a new drink in his honor . . . . hmm, gotta think about that . . .

- savvyone-1

Probably should get together around draft time....

The party will be very well done. WE all can take a few minutes and explain what Bollus means to us, as in a "Festivus" type of manner...."Bollus-vus". We'll set a tiered celebration based on the compensation coming back for Bolland. keg stand, shot, shot gun of beer, etc.

As far as the drink goes...something that is over hyped, worshipped by many, but once you drink it...you realize it's not up to par to the fame it receives....Like an over hyped wine....Even the guys at the Committed Indian have started to rip him, and they take a little blame for giviing the "fabulous weapon" nickname.

My viewing intensity has actually decreased since 36 has been MIA since Vancouver. i don't find myself mumbling profanity and waiting for the horrible penalty at the wrong time. I do miss the wide open net shanks, though....

Agreed on Sharp. Playing with 1 arm. Leading by example....Guy is a warrior...

So - new CBA, players' share of HRR reduced from 57% to 50% - does this end any belief that the high cost of tickets is caused by high players' salaries?

How will season ticket holders feel with a 15% increase if the Hawks don't at least make the 3rd round?

I doubt we will see Bolland this series...if the hwks win...that may seal it as they get through this one without him and have him for the next series.

but he his year has just sucked...i would probably reaggravate what ever is bothering him and miss another 3 or 4 gmes...

much more concerned about Emery

Yes -- you, my friend, and I are the only 2 Bollus bashers here. The part above I highlighted was what I was referring to as well. No, I don't know Bollus' daily routine nor do I really care to.

However, what I do know is that, from their play, guys like Toews, Kane, Leddy, Frolik, Kruger, Hjalmarsson and Saad have been hitting the gym. Of course, it's a foregone comment that Hossa leads everyone there -- stud #1 on this club!

We can all point to certain things with each player:

Toews: even stronger on his skates with the puck
Kane: wrist healed, much better shot and endurance during his shifts
Leddy: much stronger along the boards
Frolik: motor never stops running
Kruger: clearly more speed and strength
Hjalmarsson: more speed this year for sure
Saad: hey, he made the club and impressed as the year went along. "nuff said.

And then we have Bollus.
Cripes, even when "healthy" he looked worse than me skating, like he was carrying a huge load in his drawers. No jump. etc etc

If those are traits of a gym rat, a guy working out all the time, I guess I'll take the Bobby Hull route and drink myself to stardom.

- savvyone-1

I would not call myself a "Bollus basher", but I'm done with the guy and would luv to see him moved...

...so I guess you could include me...count me in.

Part of the ticket prices is the players salaries and will always be the players salaries. 57% down to 50% only matters if we know the net dollars of HRR. But its almost a moot point for the 'Hawks. They're a hot commodity. Strike while the iron is HOT.

Price increases won't make much of an impact on next years tickets much at all. Don't even think it'll force the FO to dip into the waiting list much. And that's because, IMO McD is doing his job.

Please remember, the biz side folks are not marketing the team to us; those of us here on this site every day. We're going to go to the games - or not go to the games - based on what each of us decide based strictly on the product on the ice.

Now, if 2013-14 is a disaster and there's in-house bickering that's leaked out, rumblings of unhappy players etc, then all bets are off. But if McD can sell the brand like he's been doing and the hype stays high, the 'Hawks will push the envelop until they can't.

We both know what's happened to the Cubs the last several years. It finally started to show significantly in the stands last year. % attendance of capacity will continue to decline. He!!, the Cubs fannies-in-the-seats 2013 total may get surpassed by the ChiSox!

Yes, yes and yes!
Bolded parts I loved the most. I almost forgot about all the open nets Bollus has had playing with Kane. And poor Kaner, if he skated the entire year with 2 healthy guys capable of finishing would have been the 1st American born points leader.

I guess Bolland is a Q guy...so he made the "core". But I'm with you...would have packaged him after 2010 when his value was highest.

Oh well, not everything works out.

Maybe Dave will feel better when they cut him out of his body cast...

Count me in also on the side that has "had it" with The "Failure" that is Dave Bolland. Am hoping he is dealt at the draft.

I am pretty sure SteveRain has an open invitation to all our HockeyBuzz brothers and sisters. I have this sneaking suspicion the party is going to be much bigger than anyone thinks.

Just what will happen if (hopefully) the Hawks make it to the SCF (or better yet, a parade in June!) without the great Dave Bollus?

Does the bubble burst then?

Once the Bollus-man had back surgery, I knew his jig was up. A guy that thin, with his build, isn't likely to overcome back surgery. And he's proven to be a shadow of his pre-surgery, former self. Sad but true.

I know Phil and I do understand. See my post right below yours. I think everyone that still supports Bolland is LITP (living in the past -- big nod to my fav band, Jethro Tull and its leader Ian Anderson).

Bolland is a shell of his former, pre-surgery self, Phil. I think all the wishing in the world is never gonna bring back THAT Bolland!

And speaking of things, I think the one-legged Ian Anderson is the perfect image for the one-legged Bolland.

Hey Darth, I think I've found your next photoshop opportunity!
