-Magnus Paajarvi and Ales Hemsky for Jamie McBain and Tuomo Ruutu

-Magnus Paajarvi and Ales Hemsky for Martin Hanzal and Zbynek Michlaek

These trades are fair no matter what any of you think. Doesn't mean the Canes/Yoes would do either, but from a value stand-point, these are fair.

-Resign Ryan Jones

-Sign Brendan Morrow and Viktor Stalberg

Hall-RNH-Jones
Stalberg-Gagner-Eberle
Morrow-Hanzal/Ruutu-Yakupov
Smyth-Horcoff-Brown

Schultz-Schultz
Petry-Smid
Fistric-Michlaek/McBain

Have at me you fruits

- mochoson

I'm not sure those Paajarvi and Hemsky deals are fair for the other teams. Or rather, if the packages wouldn't get the other teams to bite, in what way are they fair?

Don't see Morrow or Stalberg signing here frankly.

Contrary to what others have said, I don't mind a healthy Jones being the defense/toughness/opportunistic guy on a scoring line.

''the edmonton oilers'' as they called selves are looking like there drowning in oil. The have prospects on the site i find would be helpful to there team, because they have nothing. Nobody works the way they should that leads to one of there problems- shooting the puck and when they do its down low, it should always be crossbar high no exceptions. so this is small piece of writing in my perspective i have to tell all who is good and who completely needs to hit the road.
- staying
Nugent hopkins
Taylor hall
Sam ganger
Jordan eberle
magnus paajarvi
Nail yakupov
Justin schultz

- going
Jeff petry (trade bait with hemesky to boston for defense)
Ryan whitney(free agent)
Nick schultz
Ryan smith (should retire
Ben eager (should head off with petrell for 4th round)
Eric belanger (him and horcoff for 3rd round
Shawn horcoff (belanger and him for 4th round)
Ales hemesky (trade bait, Hemesky and Petry to Boston)
Jerred smithson (buy out)
Lennart petrell ( go with eager for 4th round)
Anton lander (2nd round pick)

This is the first look at what should happen as people say a rebuild is necessary
heres the second look,
Ladislav smid & mike brown for Jonathon Bernier (L.A goaltender, rumor he is on the move)
Dubnyk & Fistric for dougie hamilton(boston defenseman) or drew doughty (L.A defenseman)

Buyout on Andy Sutton
and then in the next year it would have to do with
-Corey Potter for 6th round draft pick
-Ewanyk, Moroz, Musil and Gernat coning up from the oil kings which would add size to the oilers
-draft curtis Lazar or Hunter Shinkaruk from Medicine Hat
-bring up Klefbom, Maricin, Kyle Bigos, Alex Plante, taylor fedun, Eric Gustafsson and Daniil zaharov not to mention Brandon Davidson
-bring up Kale Kessy and Curtis hamilton thats all you need
it should look like this

1st line
-Hall -Hopkins -Eberle
-Bigos -Marincin

2nd line
- Zaharov - Ganger -Yakupov
-Klefbom - Gustafsson

3rd line
- Moroz - Ewanyk - Kessy
- Gernat - Musil

4th line
-Hartikainen - Lazar - Paajarvi
-Doughty -Fedun

goaltending
J.Bernier (starting)
T.Bunz (backup)
F.tuohimaa (see where he fits)

This is what i would have anybody else that i did not include like schultz is for a trade.
have a good day.

- Jeropotato

I think this took alot of thinking haha. Problem is we're trying to avoid having a team full of young players. I agree with Musil, Marincin and Zhadorov coming up. But the rest, like Ewanyk, probably won't be ready for awhile. This is impressive though. Good on you.

I really like the idea of drafting Monahan. He's perfect but how long would it before he's ready? I say:

-Draft Monahan(If he's gone, Nurse or Zadorov!)
-Assuming we take the center, trade Gagner for Gormley or if possible Yandle
-Trade Hemsky for a late 1st (if we're lucky) or 2nd rounder
-Trade N. Schultz for a pick and/or 3rd line scoring winger
-Sign Clarkson or Horton
-Sign a faceoff guy like Gordon
-Re-Sign Jones
-Use Hemsky's old payroll on Streit and sign him to a 2yr 5m per contract
-Use that pick from Hemsky on Comrie or Fucale

Hall / Nugent-Hopkins / Eberle
Yakupov / Monahan / Clarkson
Paajarvi / Horcoff / Hartikainen
Jones / Gordon / Brown

Streit / J. Schultz
Gormley / Petry
Klefbom / Smid

Idk how this works cap-wise but it's probably fine and I like the idea this also allows Klefbom to ease into the NHL a little more

- OilerFanFromBC

Are Oiler fans just so used to sticking their 1st rounders right into the line up with 1st overall's over 3 years, that they think they can just stick all 1st rounders in and they will have some sort of impact. Monahan will not be ready for 2nd line duty on the Oilers let alone the NHL, at any position. You make it sound so easy, sorry, it just isn't.

MacT might say some stupid things but I agree with him saying that the kids should play for team Canada. Not only are they playing extremely skilled hockey instead of waiting for training camps to start. They are getting a chance to play with elite players. Learning from them and hopefully having fun winning. Then bring that energy back.

I agree, I could care less who is playing in the playoffs but this year we FINALLY have an interesting lineup at the worlds. I admit we have a flame on the team but TJ is cool. Duby should be the starter. We will get to see Schultz play with different style dmen and hopefully get some time with the veteran Campbell.

Eberle and Hall willl almost certainly get to be a line and the centers they have to go with them should be able to keep up. I like RNH but I would trade him for Claude Giroux or Stamkos. I want to see either of them play the PP with our wingers. Even Eric Staal would be fun.

I don't care what people think, personally, I am tuning in.

You guys have to stop throwing all your first round picks into the NHL straight out of junior. Sooner or later it's going to bite you in the ass.
- Jeffmt

What do you mean sooner or later. It is already biting us. I don't think we will have a draft pick that will play this year. I don't think we need him to. Despite what people on here think, MacT made it clear, he has a man crush on Gagner. He loves his leadership and is hoping to clone his like that sheep the did a few years back.

He is going NO WHERE. I am sure he still has a price but MacT has no plans on shopping him. He also eluded to liking our young kids, I just wish he said he liked them as much as he did Sam.

I think if the top 6 are changed it has to do with Hemsky, past that we are all about bottom 6, dmen, our backup and prospect movements.

Yeah, almost the entire Kings roster, especially the "heavy" players, were primarily acquired through trade or FA. Scuderi, Greene, Stoll, Richards, Carter, Williams, Penner, Fraser, King, Regehr, Greene, Mitchell, Ellerby.

The Blues are a lot more home grown.

The big difference is that both the Kings and the Blues drafted well enough that they had enough spare parts to move. The Oilers haven't really had a pick turn out, after the first round, since Petry who is pretty average most nights.

Every team has 3 or 4 of their own Abney's and Ewanyk's and Moroz's and their Rajala's and Omark's.

Basically the Oilers need to be ready to trade anyone who isn't Hall, Yakupov and Schultz.

- DTF69

Yeah, but not anytime soon. In the meantime they need to shore up the bottom six and D with some good veterans, but not superstars. We don't know how many of the lowewr drafted players will turn out.We might have 10 players already in the system that will play in the NHL.Probably not, but it's too early to say that outside the 1st round is nothing but busts.

As far as Hemsky goes, I think what he might do is keep him for one more year until his contract is up and then he might (hopefully) trade him off. By that time, whoever we draft (if it's a forward) will replace him. Unless Hemsky is traded for someone else. Only time will tell I guess.

I just don't see Hemmer as a bottom 6 on this team. That is probably the greatest area of need, and the club needs to have the right persone in the line up there. I also don't see him in the top 6 anymore. HE SUCKS on LW and Nail has been awesome on that wing. I simply don't see a fit anymore.Keeping him around just to maximize him in trade value is only really contributing to the teams current stagnation. The team needs to move forward, waiting to move Hemsky is just stalling,we need to get on with it. I say take the best offer at the draft ,wish him luck and wash our hands of him.

Yep, he would but does he want to play here? For how much? I see 28 other teams trying to put pen to paper with that guy.If it could be done I say go for it.5 years 23 million?

Agreed. I don't think what I said is what we should do, it's what I think that MacT might do. Reason being is that MacT is the one who coached him since he was drafted right up to the point where he was replaced by Pat Quinn. So there might be some sentimental value there. But sentimental value between gm and player doesn't get you success. Especially in this situation. We need him gone as soon as possible. The longer we wait the lower his value will be.

I think Hemsky was under estimated this year. He broke his foot but that is a rare injury. It is not like he keeps having concusions and he would have kept playing on it if we were a playoff contender. He played a bunch of games in Europe and the NHL. Almost a full season this year. I don't think this can be called an injury season compared to his others. He might be past that. He started the season huge and now that Yak and hall are having a bromance. Maybe we will find the Hemsky is the playmaker that eberle has been looking for. Put that together with a healthy RNH and that line might gel. They will be feather weights but they will have to learn to toughen like the sedins did. Or Switch RNH and Gagner might be better since the bromance might need the play making of RNH and we know gagner and Hemsky have chemistry.

Like MacT said. There is internal development that needs to be done and if the team improves, which I think they will with a training camp and the worlds. Plus RNH's surgery. The top 6 might be ok untouched.

I don't know that Mac T has much time for sentiment himself. To say that Mac T liked this guy or that when he was a coach doesn't mean a thing. It's a tough business, but I dont think he will have any problem looking at this roster objectively. He knows,as well as the rest of us, that the 06 run was a long time ago.

Are you suggesting moving Eberle to the LW spot? Hemmer sucks on LW.
