i have to say that blues/kings game was awesome. ducks and wings had zero intensity. didn't see much of the chicago/wild game.

let's all let the blues/kings beat the crap out of each other. whoever comes out the wings/ducks series won't have a scratch.

eberle gets dealt.

i actually overstated abit as out of the entire group of 5 kids, hes prob the only one that there's any chance at all. this might be due to yaks at the same position. but its not like we dont want 2 good rw'ers.

hes struggled at times this year and i think alot of oil fans got abit frustrated. but its only cause he was so fantastic last year and the same was expected this year.
kid's a gamer and has some of the sickest hands in the game. huge longshot he gets moved for anything less than a true stud powerforward. even then im unsure its wise to move a kid with those kind of skills and that type of character.

if it were up to me, he'd be an oiler for life

I think Eberle's injured finger had something to do with it.

I'm telling you...Eberle is gonna be traded.
- LeftCoaster

Why would you trade a 22 year old you have locked in for 5 years at 5 mil a year that is one of your best players and considered by many scouts to be one of the best prospects under 24 in the league (TSN survey done in January). He is a sniper with very few that can compare. Why trade him? For who? That would be like trading a Sedin. You don't trade one of your two best guys to fill your back 6.

The Oil do need to add character guys and things aren't as desperate as they seem. With Justin signing here and the young talent, we are going to have less trouble in the UFA market. We are not out there looking for the best. We are out there trying to fill bottom 6. Those we have always been able to sign. As for Hemsky... if we can't improve on him, don't. Not every line has to be hitters. Gagner, hall and Yak hit, thats 3 of 6. Beef up our third line. We got Paajarvi. Put in a big center and hope Hartkinen can step from line 4 to 3. If not that is a position we can fill.

Still shoot for Horton or Clarkson as UFAs. Short term contracts. Then let Krueger try to get us Striet. I also think that St. louis might be willing to trade a goalie. They are sweet on allen as a back up but they have Halak and Elliot. Any one of the 3 is a cheap option for us and they have cap problems. Who knows maybe they will trade stewart as well for paajarvi, one of our seconds this year, our first next year and a goalie as a salary dump. We might have to sweeten that with more prospects/picks but you get the picture.

I really like the idea of drafting Monahan. He's perfect but how long would it before he's ready? I say:

-Draft Monahan(If he's gone, Nurse or Zadorov!)
-Assuming we take the center, trade Gagner for Gormley or if possible Yandle
-Trade Hemsky for a late 1st (if we're lucky) or 2nd rounder
-Trade N. Schultz for a pick and/or 3rd line scoring winger
-Sign Clarkson or Horton
-Sign a faceoff guy like Gordon
-Re-Sign Jones
-Use Hemsky's old payroll on Streit and sign him to a 2yr 5m per contract
-Use that pick from Hemsky on Comrie or Fucale

Hall / Nugent-Hopkins / Eberle
Yakupov / Monahan / Clarkson
Paajarvi / Horcoff / Hartikainen
Jones / Gordon / Brown

Streit / J. Schultz
Gormley / Petry
Klefbom / Smid

Idk how this works cap-wise but it's probably fine and I like the idea this also allows Klefbom to ease into the NHL a little more

- OilerFanFromBC

my best oiler memories are the edmonton dallas series with mr. todd marchant being the best player on the ice.

that's a great memory ...

other than the obvious 80's memories...I'm gonna go with Pisani scoring in OT shorthanded against Ward in game 5!

''the edmonton oilers'' as they called selves are looking like there drowning in oil. The have prospects on the site i find would be helpful to there team, because they have nothing. Nobody works the way they should that leads to one of there problems- shooting the puck and when they do its down low, it should always be crossbar high no exceptions. so this is small piece of writing in my perspective i have to tell all who is good and who completely needs to hit the road.
- staying
Nugent hopkins
Taylor hall
Sam ganger
Jordan eberle
magnus paajarvi
Nail yakupov
Justin schultz

- going
Jeff petry (trade bait with hemesky to boston for defense)
Ryan whitney(free agent)
Nick schultz
Ryan smith (should retire
Ben eager (should head off with petrell for 4th round)
Eric belanger (him and horcoff for 3rd round
Shawn horcoff (belanger and him for 4th round)
Ales hemesky (trade bait, Hemesky and Petry to Boston)
Jerred smithson (buy out)
Lennart petrell ( go with eager for 4th round)
Anton lander (2nd round pick)

This is the first look at what should happen as people say a rebuild is necessary
heres the second look,
Ladislav smid & mike brown for Jonathon Bernier (L.A goaltender, rumor he is on the move)
Dubnyk & Fistric for dougie hamilton(boston defenseman) or drew doughty (L.A defenseman)

Buyout on Andy Sutton
and then in the next year it would have to do with
-Corey Potter for 6th round draft pick
-Ewanyk, Moroz, Musil and Gernat coning up from the oil kings which would add size to the oilers
-draft curtis Lazar or Hunter Shinkaruk from Medicine Hat
-bring up Klefbom, Maricin, Kyle Bigos, Alex Plante, taylor fedun, Eric Gustafsson and Daniil zaharov not to mention Brandon Davidson
-bring up Kale Kessy and Curtis hamilton thats all you need
it should look like this

1st line
-Hall -Hopkins -Eberle
-Bigos -Marincin

2nd line
- Zaharov - Ganger -Yakupov
-Klefbom - Gustafsson

3rd line
- Moroz - Ewanyk - Kessy
- Gernat - Musil

4th line
-Hartikainen - Lazar - Paajarvi
-Doughty -Fedun

goaltending
J.Bernier (starting)
T.Bunz (backup)
F.tuohimaa (see where he fits)

This is what i would have anybody else that i did not include like schultz is for a trade.
have a good day.

These trades are fair no matter what any of you think. Doesn't mean the Canes/Yoes would do either, but from a value stand-point, these are fair.

Most realistic blog ever by Richard! Almost a miracle. Hemsky and a 2nd might actually move you up to a second 1st rounder. ould be a later one, but it might work.. I could actually see columbus trading one of there picks in the 20's for that deal.

The only way I would be trading Eberle is for say Pietrangelo or someone comparable (depending on contract extension he signs). Our defense is so bad that I would definitely consider trading one of the kids to upgrade our D. We aren't going to get far with our current D and it needs a lot of work.

I don't believe in trading for draft picks at this point. What I suggest we do is package up the players were looking to move in groups of two and trade them for one player. I'm worried that we'll miss out on nichushkin. I'd like to draft Monahan. But if he's taken, then we could possibly pick Ristolainen or Zadorov. Both huge defensemen who play at both ends of the ice very well. They would fit into the lineup right away too because of our young team (even though that's part of what were trying to avoid). On another note, I think that acquiring Clarkson would be a good idea as well. His salary wasnt that much anyway.
