Plenty of offence. No excuses with or without 87, let him get to where he needs to be for the long haul. - canadianpenfan

I get that. I'm just questioning the terminology. When I think of a game time decision, I think of a player with a sore groin or sprained ankle hoping it heals up or the painkillers work well enough that he can play. I don't see how a broken jaw affects the ability to play hockey. If it's not healed enough that the very real possibility of a rebreak is there then I don't think 8 hours is going to change that.
I suppose my real gripe is that all this gamesmanship is a little silly. If you ask Capuono, he's preparing for a Pens' team with Crosby regardless of his status. - Sasquatchernaut
Keep them guessing, it is kind of pointless. But just imagine for a second if Sid does explode out of the tunnel before the game, ill bet we would be able to hear the soul be sucked out of the Islanders at that very moment. |

Time for Malkin to step up and state his case for another Conn Smythe. - kill.monsters
I have no doubt that Malkin is going to be great, April-June 2009 great. |

Can't use it as an excuse. Enough firepower to beat the Islanders even without Crosby. |

Good news is that he's close... You'd think he'll be back in the next couple of games.

I never thought this was going to be a cakewalk anyway. How any fan of this team can take anyone lightly after the last few years is beyond me. |

Sid update: No Crosby in the lineup for penguins tonight. So Isles just need to worry about Malkin, Neal, Iginla, Morrow, Kunitz, Letang...

I disagree.
It's currently the doctor's call, win or lose shouldn't affect the doctor's decision-making. |

Why does Game #1 have to be on the same night as my wife's birthday?
"Yeah yeah yeah... dinner was great, but we really should get home so that the kids can go to bed...."

Completely agree.
I'm not taking the Isle lightly, but I think the more talented team will win....pretty easily.
My confidence comes from the way they played for the better part of the last two months and the additions at the deadline. This is one incredible roster.

You're wife will understand. Just tell her it's not your fault she wasn't born on an off day. You can't control these things. |

I'm confident as well because I think you're going to see a motivated team. The Pens haven't played a meaningful game in months.
With that said the Isles were playing as well as anyone at the end of the season. |

I understand your thought...
But if we are to believe that it's ultimately the doctor's clearance (i.e. complete heal of the broken jaw) which is keeping him from the line-up, then a win/loss in Game 1 won't change that. |
