I definitely championed Despres' cause throughout the year but I do have to say that he has played his worst hockey of the year most recently IMO.

Again, has nothing to do with that. His jaw has yet to heal to a point where the doctor's no longer fear a quick re-break.

It can't even be a hairline. Look at that college basketball kid who broke his leg in half from a simple play.

You will never know 100%, but X-Rays can tell you if a fracture is healed or not.

Again, remember; NO ONE said he doesn't already have clearance to play. That has yet to be reported, I'm interested to see how this goes tonight. No one will know he is playing until he steps foot on the ice for the game. This is being kept very close to the vest.

I get that. I'm just questioning the terminology. When I think of a game time decision, I think of a player with a sore groin or sprained ankle hoping it heals up or the painkillers work well enough that he can play. I don't see how a broken jaw affects the ability to play hockey. If it's not healed enough that the very real possibility of a rebreak is there then I don't think 8 hours is going to change that.

I suppose my real gripe is that all this gamesmanship is a little silly. If you ask Capuono, he's preparing for a Pens' team with Crosby regardless of his status.
