Reminds me of when Nick Schultz went down the night before the playoffs with his appendix that one year. God just making sure Wild fans don't get their hopes up too high. Not yet. Wild will be as good as this Hawks team in 3 years in my opinion. Then.......... Then! |

For the record, that was a great game played by the Wild. Not so much by Chicago. Expected less from Minnesota and more from the Hawks. |

Gilbert a huge liability, easily the worst player on the ice tonight. Maybe Yeo puts Prosser in for Gilby. He's just scary when he touches the puck, and I sure as hell don't mean scary good.
Wild had their chances to put game one away, many of them as a matter of fact. Zucker looked good at times and looked like an out of control lunatic at other times. They could have won the game on any of the half dozen prime scoring chances he had. I think Parise's play worked against him tonight. Over pursuit I think was a big factor in him not really being a factor. The goalie interference penalty obviously became a huge factor.
Koivu looked tight and plodding and slow at times. I'm not sure if it was nerves or what, several players trying to do to much with the puck making mistakes.
4th line played an amazing game I thought. Almost thought Konopka was going to get his first point of the season they played so well, and ate up a lot of key minutes for the top 3 lines. Mitchell played his ass off and deserved to score. All in all the Wild played every bit as well as Chicago if not better.
Defense played an exceptional game... with the exception of Gilbert
I leave the thoughts of tonights game now seeing that this is a winnable series. If they can get Pominville back in there by Friday, all the better this line up will be. Still not going to be easy, but Chicago looked very beatable tonight. |

Did anyone else get the feeling like that wasn't a playoff game? The intensity level just wasn't amped up as much as I expected, especially at the start. Maybe that's a product of the shortened season and the regular season games being a little more intense than we're used to.
Although the Wild had chances to win that game, I'm a little more worried now than I was. Chicago looked to me like a team that started out very conservative. But as the game went on they really took over. The Wild could do very little to sustain any offensive pressure and their breakout seemed non-existent in the second half of the game. My hope was they could keep games close and wear down the Blackhawks but I think it's going to be Chicago that wears the Wild down quickly. |

It's too bad about Pominville. He would have made a big difference. |

Even though the Wild lost, Harding showed he can still play. Great game especially under the circumstances. |
