Not really.
If I hire someone who didn't perform well at his job, then I told him he wasn't invited to a training session, then he told me he was looking for another job, then I told him not to come to the Christmas party, wouldn't everyone involved think his days are numbered?
Just because it's hockey doesn't make it any different. If anyone in the league runs their team like a business, it's Wang. And hate his hockey stuff all you want but the guy knows how to run a company.
With everything that went on with Nino, and his past performance, he's not going to be here much longer. - kencan98
he wasnt invited because it was a lockout shortened season & the plans were for him to play the whole season in the AHL... if you have limited time to get a team ready for the season, why use a practice spot on someone that is NOT going to be there?? Its a VERY GOOD reason for him to not be invited.
in fact its common sense

No I dont think we would have more then we have now.. we have QUITE a bit now & more in the pipeline.
You are pretending you knew what Snow was thinking & trying to out smart anyone, Fowler was passed over by ALOT of teams so was Couture... you can look back in the HB history I wanted both of those players.... but they dropped for a reason.. They weren't just passed over by Snow.
2003 wasnt Snow's draft & Yes again Mike Milbury set this team back a long long long time.
XxNYIxX - XxNYIxX
I'm not pretending I knew what Snow was thinking at all. I just know the recent history of the team and how bad the draft has been.
Milbury, Snow, Smith, whoever else, the fact still remains that if you look back ten years, if the Islanders just picked who was available at the time they would have a better team.
And I agree that we do have more in the pipeline now. But that's the pipeline. That pipeline needs to be developed correctly in order for it to become NHL talent. Nino and Bailey were not handled correctly and it shows. Hopefully Strome will not go through the same thing. |

And I also wouldn't announce to my entire company and all of my customers that my newest salesperson wasn't invited to the training meeting because he was terrible at his job and had a bad attitude. I'd say it was because of a scheduling conflict or we had other plans for him as well.
Saying anything other then that brings down the moral of everyone else around the situation. |

No one said he wasn't coming to camp because he was terrible at his job or that he had a bad attitude, they said he was going to the AHL to develop properly.

You would think so. Instead all you read on here are a bunch of complaints from one guy about the Isles not developing prospects and a pissing match over how Nabokov can't keep playing for another 4-5 years. |

That's exactly my point. They said what they said. But if you look at everything else surrounding the issue, the real story seems to be a little different. If he was going to the AHL to develop properly, why the trade request? If development was the goal, why would they not want him around the team during playoffs? The playoff experience could be huge for the development of the prospect. That's why all of the real prospects we have were called up. He was the only one left out. |

could have said the same thing about LV. He didn't want to come, kept blocking the trade, stayed in the KHL, then went home, then finally came over. Now he's resigned.
Don't underestimate Snow's patience, it's clearly a lot longer than any of ours.
Nino could well make the team next year and could be a respectable player, we just won't know until he gets a shot in camp.
Plenty of players the Isles drafted didn't pan out or turned into great players elsewhere because Milbury looked at them with as little patience as you do.

Ok, think that. That's exactly why PR people are paid the way they are paid. They do their jobs well.
Just remember the circumstances surrounding the situation. When he's gone by the draft this summer, remember, and next time a similar situation happens and you are told the same type of stuff, remember the outcome. |

Of course it does You're leaving out that the two of you had a talk after the training session and you explained why he wasn't brought in. Then that he asked you if he could attend a friends party instead since he wasn't going to be able to participate in any of your parties events so you granted his request.
You can paint that picture any way you like, and you may ultimately be right, but there is a lot more going on other than the two or three deteails we've gotten from the story. He's a top 5 pick who is under contract and considered a big part of this teams future. Until it's confirmed that the Isles are shopping him, there's nothing else to discuss. |

he's playing in the world championships. For all we know he requested to be able to do that. Maybe they'd rather he play more games than sit and watch. Snow hasn't commented on it, you're just speculating or taking someone else's speculation as fact.

Ken, maybe I'm wrong, but I think the heat you are getting is a reflection on the timing in which you are making your arguments. There several Islanders fans on this board, who have been here for years, have suffered through some pretty bad times, and don't want to hear how bad the organization is when the team is about ready to make its first playoff appearance in years. |
