I'm not going through this for a tenth time. We can't talk about 2001. According to some around here it's Snow only. Then that changes to Snow plus other teams. Then it's Islanders from 2007 and forward and other teams in the 70's. Then it's every team in the 70's. Then they finally realize that they are just wrong and call me names. - kencan98
You came out and said that YOUR ONLY PROBLEM with them is that, in the past decade+, they waste their top-5 picks by rushing players and picking incorrectly.
"My problem with the Islanders, some of their fans, and their management is that they ALWAYS make the wrong move. All I want them to do is to do what every other team in the league would do and I only ask for it one time. For once in the past decade +, just use the 5 pick to pick a #5 player. For once just let a prospect develop so that we actually turn potential into talent."
Can you please tell me what players/picks you're referring to? |

you didnt answer the question...was 02-09 8 years??????
a simple "yes" or "no" will do - LetsGoIsles
When you answer mine I'll answer yours. I've answered (and proven you wrong) in your original post and you still never addressed it. The Pens had NO ONE in the "cupboard" in 2002. They made the PICK and forgot about the cupboard.
So my question again is this, where was the 8 years of cupboard building? There is none. |

If you want to make the argument easier to prove, sure.
Every top 5 pick they've had since 2000 has been a disaster besides JT. To take it further, every first round pick they've had since JT has not been what we expected and not even close. Again, the only one you can point to is JT. Nelson and 2011 forward are not on the roster and haven't been given a shot so we don't know how they'll turn out. |

You never said first round pick, you said top-5. Your quote was to "just use the 5 pick to pick a #5 player. For once just let a prospect develop so that we actually turn potential into talent."
Which top-5 picks in the last 12 years fit this criteria? That's all I'm asking. |

Every one of them besides JT. I've answered that about 15 times now.
2000 was DiPietro and Torres. We had 1 and 5 and we missed both Gaborik and Heatley. I believe Orpik was that year as well. That draft was another complete miss.
2003 wasn't a top 5 pick but it was probably the worst draft ever. How do you completely miss that year?
2008 was the "LetsGoIsles" cupboard year. MAKE THE PICK.
2010 was a complete miss like usual. Make the pick.
2011 was Strome. Hopefully they let him develop. |

Which ones? Which top-5 picks? Please use the names of those top-5 picks. By my count, there have only been 4, and none of them have played a professional game yet besides JT. |

Really? Dipietro and Torres haven't played NHL games?
Josh Bailey (#5 pick traded down twice) hasn't played NHL games?
Nino hasn't played NHL games?
Okposo was a 7. No NHL games? |

He's actually looking at a decent amount of history. You are making the discussion impossible by saying "Snows Picks Only. Besides JT which top 5 picks suck and Nino doesn't count because he played with Pandolfo."
You can't discuss that honestly. |

Well, common sense would tell you he was'nt a top 5 pick? Would it not? as far as Okposo you kind of did that one for me did'nt you? Why bring him up? |

He's a bust here. And it's not only because of his NHL play. It's because of his NHL play, not being invited to camp, trade request, not being asked to join the team during the post season. To me (or anyone with eyes) that doesn't look very good. |

Well isn't that all that matters now? Why argue about the mistakes of the past if they don't apply to the present? |

Sure he was. We had a number 5 pick and got Josh Bailey. Simple as that.
"LetsGoIsles" (the cupboard guy) will explain it all to you when he's done trying to find the 8 years that the pens built their cupboard. |

They do apply to the present if you are still making the same mistakes. |

DiPietero was more than 12 years ago, you said decade (that means 10 years). Same with Torres.
Josh Bailey was picked 9th overall in 2008, not 5th.
Okposo, again, was a #7, not a #5.
Nine played his first season after being drafted in the WHL. The next season, he played 9 games before being returned to play a second full season in the WHL. I wouldn't exactly call him "rushed." But yes, he has played 2 years of NHL hockey after being sent to 2 more years of juniors.

Yep...exactly, because the prior picks have to do with the quality of the pick whereas it's too early to judge that on Snow's picks...which is the point. It's like damning one President for the mistakes that occured three administrations prior. If you're going to start listing DiPietro as a reason to believe the Isles will screw Strome up, you're argument is already lost. |

Um, no. We got 2 second round picks on our way down to 9. Should we consider those two second rounders top five picks too? It will only help your argument. |

You said a Decade +. I had a feeling you at least a little honest compared to the Islander fans around here. I think DiPietro could be included in the discussion since he's still around so 2000 is a valid draft to look at.
In 2008, what number pick did the Islanders have? Who did they pick? |

hahahaha....youre ignoring whats hitting you in the face....
the penguins rebuild began in 2002, in 06/07 they made the playoffs for the first time in 6 years, in 2009 (8 years later (the correct answer was "yes")) they won the cup.
since they seem to be the standard...
islanders rebuild began in 2008, in 2012/13 they made the playoffs for the first time in 6 years....you seem how these rebuilds are actually kinda similar. the islanders are EXACTLY where the penguins were 6 years into their rebuild.
i cant judge a team based off another team when the results are final. |
