I'm not here to be liked. I'm here so that next year when (if...hopefully not) Snow brings up Strome and he doesn't live up to his expectations, I can call out the people who then turn around and say "See, I said all along the guy needs to be developed more." - kencan98

so the second line did nothing then?? when your boy boyes went 12 games without a goal and moulson went 10 without one... and i have been the hardest crtitics of bailey and okposo..but they stepped up and played their hearts out and i have to give credit where credit is due - NYI78
If we have any chance vs Pitt... they better take it to the next level

We are talking about the players who brought us to the playoffs. The only two pieces we could have not done without during the season are JT and Nabby. |

and no one else??? - LetsGoIsles
Hey, I'm answering all your posts. How about the Pens 8 year cupboard thing you said?
Care to back that up at all or did you just throw it out there and hope it stuck? |

And Ranger fans are exactly the same as Islander fans. The only difference is the date when the "wait till next year" starts. For Ranger fans it's July 1. For Islander fans it's the draft. - kencan98

Would the caps have made it without Ovechkin? |

i agree that they carried the team..but until they got the other lines scoring they were under .500 i get that that those two are a large reason but many players made valuable contribtuions to this team |

Without their top scorer and good goal tending, no. Like us, with one of the best players in the league and similar goal tending to ours, they barely made it. |

there is not one player on a team there is 24 players that are on the team. It is because of those 24 players that we made the playoffs. They wll worked together did there job and got us to where we needed to be. It was not just beacause of Tavares or Nabakov or the second line it was the whole team |

Contributions for sure. I don't doubt that for a second. But would we have made the playoffs if you replace Bailey with (pick a player), probably. Would we have made it if you replace Okposo with (pick a player), probably. Would we have made it if you replace Nabby with (any other goalie in our system), not a chance. Would we have made it if you replace JT with (pick a player), not a chance.
The point is that while the others contributed they could have been replaced with others in the system and we still would be relatively the same team. The same can't be said for JT and Nabby. |

And hopefully this continues. Based on what happened in the past though, and YES, under Snow, this isn't going to happen.
Based on the past (SNOW), we will not resign Boyes, we will either fill in with another "Boyes/PAP" or we will bring up a prospect. Either the prospect will bust (like Bailey and Nino did) or the UFA will work or not.
It's hard to say what will happen in net because Snow really hasn't made any moves back there yet. The only real goalie he had was Nabby and he's still here. If he resigns him, the team may be in decent shape. If he doesn't, it's lottery time all over again. - kencan98
you make this sound like its a foregone conclusion...your foundation of thinking is totally flawed |

The way Okposo and Bailey and Grabner(clutch goals at the best times PK) and Nabby and JT played down the stretch we would'nt have made it with anyone besides them. They played as a solid unit, that's why they were successful. Defensively, forecheck, crashing the net, etc. They played as a team as do all successful teams, this is'nt (frank)ing basketball you half wit. The one player ironically enough we could've made it without was Boyes |

Those are the only two that can't be replaced.
The same can be said about almost any other team. Take out Hank and the Rangers aren't in the playoffs. Take out Holtby and the Caps are out. Take out Anderson and the Sens are out. It's a team effort but there are parts of a team that cannot be replaced. For us that's JT and Nabby. |

Still googling? You aren't going to find anything.

Exactly....you treat this as though the Isles suck because without their star and goaltender they'd probably not make the playoffs. Whelp, there you have it. Remove a franchise player and #1 goalie from most teams and they're not going to get in. That's why you build around those players. You're pointing out an elementary fact again as though nobody else would see it. That said, it was our second line that's carried us over the last month.
Take Lundqvist and Nash off the Rangers..no playoffs.
Ovechkin from Caps..no playoffs.
Only a few teams in the league can sustain that type of loss. |

Cupboard. I love the Islanders terms.
From the 02/03 WB Pens, who on that roster won the cup with them in 09?
Orpik?
Some Cupboard. - kencan98
hey buddy, you just said from 02-06 they drafted top 5, 2 years later they were competing for the cup, next year they won it..
im just commenting off of what YOU said...dont knock me for your comments... but you cant argue that the penguins "rebuild" begin in "02" (in your words)....than it took them 8 years to win the cup...correct? its simple math, im not looking for an argument.
do you agree that from 02-09 was 8 years?? |

Secondary scoring couldn't be replaced. JT and Nabby couldn't be.
It's not hard to find a guy who will put up 15 to 20 points over a 48 game season playing second line minutes. However it is hard to find a goalie who will keep you in almost every game you play. It's also not every day you come across one of the best players in the league to center your first line. |
