3 would be my guess, depends on how drunk the GM's are like every FA.

Oilers could use some low key solid role layer signings like Boyd Gordon, Jay McClement kind of dudes that will run a PK and give the 3rd/4th line some speed and jam.

Trade for Belanger for Derek Morris as well.

What would you consider fair from the coyotes in a deal for hemsky? Would you agree Phoenix could maybe use his skill set?

Unless they get a new coach I don't see why'd they want a guy that doesn't play two-way hockey and is injury prone.

It means you do not get the number 1 overall pick for the 4th year in a row.

This. They could use his skill, but they have a certain way of building the team. The only guys bad defensively that survived Tippett were Sullivan and Whitney, both grey beards and one a timeless point machine.

From reading your idiocy the past while a couple of things have become clear. A) You live in Edmonton. B) English is your second language. Those two things mean C)You live in Millwoods.

Conclusion: Please don't molotov my house. Go to Laheys. I think he lives on 118th Ave.

Barkov has the Russian factor yet he is not Russian, and you have the Oilers taking a real Russian with a 2 year KHL contract in place? Good work Richard.

Oilers will take the big Finn defenseman if he's there or take Nurse with #7.

Forget the pick, why not sign a versatile vet like Dainius Zubrus (Lithuanian but speaks Russian obviously)?

You can play him at 3/4C with him slotting up the lineup at the beginning of the season - in fact our centre depth looks pretty good with Nuge, Gags, Horcoff and Zubrus (and maybe Lander up to start the year) - but he can also be a big defensive conscience for either Nuge and Eberle or a yakupov line.

Zubrus-Nugent-Hopkins-Eberle
OR
Hall-Zubrus-Yakupov
OR
Zubrus-Gagner-Yakupov

all look like intriguing lines.

- Morris

Sorry Morris, but Zubrus is brutal and would be one of the last guys I would want to add.

Except Landeskog and Jones are Midgets...
- MisterC

Landy was rushed into the league. Clearly he needed more time to develop his strength. He's injury prone and will be a bandaid the rest of his career.

Spent a lot of time on IR this year but is there something I'm not seeing? Big forward who uses his body well, capable defensive player, but not fast nor does he score. Injuries here and there, but still physical.

Zubrus is a big body that we could use. You don't have to be great when playing between Hall and Yakapov. Opposing defense would be crying. The we trade the pick + Hemsky (and maybe Smid too) for a real D man.

You are kidding right?
Peckham and the 7th would probably get them the 8th pick.

- abware

Nice. Probably. What I am trying to say is that if they are going to pick a dman, they don't need to do it at 5 so Carolina might as well get anything to bump down. Peckham was a bad example but you see my point. Carolina can't go to 8 because Buffalo might want a dman, probably not but it is not as safe a bet as Calgary or Edmonton. So I would see what you could get for 5th and bump down if I were them. Maybe they like Colten, maybe they want the rights to Whitney... I got no idea what it will take. It is not a huge leap and it won't take something like a third round pick. A fourth would work if we had one. Maybe they like a 5th.

I don't know what the deal will take but I do know it would probably be possible to move to 5 for a reasonable price IF we wanted to. Not sure if we do, but if we did there is that chance.

I personally still like Max Domi. Maybe it is the name.

For someone that don't live in or near Edmonton you sure seem to know the area.
