Current need should factor in. Especially when the draft is tight after the 1st 6-7. - TandA4Flames

Well isn't it? I mean sure you have some pieces, but I don't see how you guys are full at any one position. |

Sadly you are correct. If for some dumb shi t luck thing we win the draft it would be so hard to take Jones and leave MacKinnon. |

Left wing... we are pretty much full at left wing... Baertschi, Glenncross, Cammy (depending on the night) Tangs and so on... Pretty much good there. Also, if we still have a lower level first pick I hope Feaster looks into Josh Morrisey, kid played great for Canada (gold medal winners!) at the world under 18s and had 47 points in 70 games with a +/- of 14 with the Prince Albert Raiders. (He's a D-man for those who don't know). |

Why! - whipper334
Because Philly is in huge cap trouble. Feaster has been yaking about this forever, plus he is skilled and can play up the middle. I just see it happening. |

Sounds easy.............
Who do you move, Hall or Yaks? - TandA4Flames
Neither. One is RW other is LW. When they played together at the end of the year it didn't matter who was the Center. They absolutely owned the ice and were hell on skates together.

Asked this on the Oiler thread but so far nothing so I'll ask here.
Does anyone know if there is a deadline and if so, when it is, to buy out players this summer? I'm trying to figure out how this may affect free agency? |

You throw a healthy RNH on that line and jesus! |

Eberle - Lahey
Different type of player IMO.

G prospects are solid. LW is pretty full; Baertschi, Gaudreau, Hanowski, Horak (can be a C as well), Agostino....... we need 1st line potential C and right shooting, top pairing D S a priority. We can upgrade the other areas later. |

By the time your rebuild is done Cammy will be gone. If he isn't both him and Glencross will be on the decline. |

Sure, but Hall and Yak both are players that once they get a bit older can play on any team and you won't have to worry about what type of player they are. RNH and Eberle, won't have that going for them. |

Yes but if you noticed, Feaster also indicated that he wants the Flames to be a more physical team, Briere is pretty much the exact opposite of physical. Feaster isn't dumb enough (despite what certain Oilers fans may think) to go after an often injured, streaky small winger at the tail end of his career. It goes against everything they are trying to do and it is not going to happen. |

How so? They are 30, by the time most of this year's picks are ready to make an impact those two aren't going to be the players they are today. |

The Flames are going to need to fill the gap. Taking on a shi++y contract like Briere's will also come with some assets as well i.e. young players and picks! Don't be shocked if it happens because its going to happen. Might not be briere per say but I guarantee there will be at least one old overpaid bad contract bum coming to the flames this off season. |

So you trade your most skilled winger to get what you need, assuming that is how you go about getting the missing parts? |

More like as usual the Pens will get pushed around start acting like their usual whiny pussies and fold. Goaltending and defense will crumble and Pens will be out in Round 2. - Iggysbff
Do the Oilers and their fans know what real defense or goaltending look like? |

Cammy I can see but Feaster has already named Glenner as one of the "untouchables" so I doubt that'll happen. And for a guy that is capable of 20+ goals and physicality and penalty killing at $2.5 mill there's no reason to get rid of him.
