Caught a handful of Frederik Gauthier in the Q playoffs. Impressive prospect.
- ob18

Craig Button compared him to Keith Primeau. Pretty high praise. His stock is a bit down though due to late-season slide... maybe more of a candidate for #41 or a reason to trade up from there.

oh, we're back to that again...

(June of 2011) " bigger, faster, stronger, younger..."

i agree w/ OB18....ready for a new approach.

- isaiah520

Bigger? How are the flyers that small?

Holmers top reasons for the bad year

1. Injuries
2. We're small
3. Cooters lingering mono?

would be nice to add a plyr w/ the elements he brings and he's more physically mature than most of the other prospects in the top tier...but if we are taking the more patient approach, i can understand where you're coming from. would love if homer didn't have a knee jerk reaction to this past season.
- isaiah520

Paul Holmgren has a pretty strong record with #1 Draft picks. Don't know why you think Holmgren is going to have a knee jerk reaction.

I won't pretend to know what Miller and Vanek want. You can do that if you choose to. No way Buffalo trades Vanek for Read and Coburn. That's just common sense. No inside info needed on what players want, to come to that conclusion.
- MJL

I live in buffalo. It's been all over tv and radio about millers condo on market right after season ended and both miller and vanek have stated many times to local reporters in interviews they aren't resigning here if buffalo is rebuilding which they obviously are. I'm not speculating just saying they are good as gone as much as fedotanko.

He played pretty good & I think had the winning goal against US in the under 18 gold medal game on Sunday.

Probably a mid 1st rounder. I don't see him not being a 1st rounder.

glad tallon got the #2. now he knows what it feels like. they'll still get a damn good prospect, just not the one he wanted. i hope jones scores the cup winning goal against the panthers some day. 96 rematch. i just threw up in my mouth.

the oilers have had 3 straight #1 picks and a top 10 pick five years in a row, and they still (frank)ing suck. ridiculous.

Their approach tends to be more conservative/conventional at the top of the draft... it's only later in the round that they start hitting all their home runs because they've made some great gambles on small (Giroux, Richards), slow (Richards, Downie), soft (Williams, Gagne, Giroux) players.

Aside from Carter, their picks in the top-half of the 1st-round have been pretty disappointing.

IMO, if not for the wrist injury this season, Pulock would have been the consensus top D after Jones. Still had a good year on a bad team. Tied for team scoring lead despite missing 11 games. He's not bad defensively. Skates well. Not especially physical, but that's OK.

I've beat this drum a bit at #11 is too early for him but Kerby Rychel was fun to watch.

He looked disgusted, but I think it had less to do with losing Jones, and more to do with all the leverage he lost over the teams that were drooling for Jones.
- Tomahawk

w/ some of the decisions sherman has made, i'm not sure leverage is a concept he has a good grasp on.

Yeah, it's pretty wide open from #5 on down... not much consensus amongst the scouting services which leads me to believe that there's going to be an even bigger variance to how the teams rank the players.
- Tomahawk

Very possible. It'd be awesome to see the Flyers land a kid like Elias Lindholm at 11. But there's really a lot of good prospects that could fall to them.

At #11 he'd be at the top of the possible players to seriously consider.

I'd like to know what your basing that on. Because as I stated previously, regardless of where in the round, the Flyers history of first round picks with Holmgren involved is strong.
