I think the top 5 will be Jones, MacKinnon, Drouin, Barkov and Nichushkin. After that, I could see Nurse and Ristolainen be grabbed ahead of Monahan or Lindholm, similar to the run on defense last year. 6-15 could be a total crapshoot.

I'll say anything after #4 is a crapshoot. The fun begins at #5.

Yeah, true...the signability issue might plague Nichushkin

Zadorov might be a smarter pick than Nurse if both are available... big Z has the size, mobility and intimidation-factor of an elite #1 dman... his offense has to come along, but I wouldn't be surprised to see his numbers explode post-draft.

At the start of London's playoffs I'd say no thanks to Zadorov he's no doubt played much better as they've advanced. Not sure at what spot I'd be okay with him but would certainly keep him on the radar.

I say Calgary having 3 as well in round 1 why not take a big risk with at least 1 of them.

Do have to wonder if Edmonton finally goes with a badly needed d-man. Plenty of forwards that they could afford to take that risk.
- ob18

I think they need a player like Monahan more than any dman other then jones.

More than most I'd love to see Monahan here but at 11 I just don't see him falling and at 11 I go best available no matter the position.

Yeah, it's pretty wide open from #5 on down... not much consensus amongst the scouting services which leads me to believe that there's going to be an even bigger variance to how the teams rank the players.

Speaking of beef, Frederik Gauthier is kind of right in the Flyers wheelhouse -- huge two-way center, and they love taking kids from the Q.

Caught a handful of Frederik Gauthier in the Q playoffs. Impressive prospect.

the oilers have had 3 straight #1 picks and a top 10 pick five years in a row, and they still (frank)ing suck. ridiculous.

We need the picks we have to add to what depth we don't have. We shouldn't really be moving picks or what prospects we have in any move.

Zadorov? He's a decent looking kid. London hasn't rushed him in his OHL rookie seaoson, because they haven't need to do so with how deep they are as team let alone on D.

glad tallon got the #2. now he knows what it feels like. they'll still get a damn good prospect, just not the one he wanted. i hope jones scores the cup winning goal against the panthers some day. 96 rematch. i just threw up in my mouth.

He looked disgusted, but I think it had less to do with losing Jones, and more to do with all the leverage he lost over the teams that were drooling for Jones.

would be nice to add a plyr w/ the elements he brings and he's more physically mature than most of the other prospects in the top tier...but if we are taking the more patient approach, i can understand where you're coming from. would love if homer didn't have a knee jerk reaction to this past season.
