If we win the lottery I would trade down to the 3rd. I think we need more than Jones. I would be happy with Drouin or Mac. With the pieces we would get in that trade we could possibly move up again to the top 10. 2 top 10 picks would sound better to me than just #1 overall
- Stripes77

I personally think we need a superstar forward over a superstar Dman. Therefore I would trade trade and get more pieces.

I absolutely agree... Peula is starting to sound like Golisano 2.0.....
- rapperray

Totally different. Golisano wanted to save the team from failing because the Rigases (frank)ed everybody. He lost 4-5 mil a few seasons there early on. I don't care how rich you are, watching losing 4-5 million is no fun. Meanwhile players on your teamwalk away with millions. Golisano was smart. He saw no reason why NHL salaries should be as high as they are, and he was right. He got out of the business because he didn't want to fleece fans while competing with overzealus owners trying to buy their way to the cup.

In comes Pegula. Opposite end of the spectrum. Overzealus owner trying to buy his way to the cup, increasing fan costs, contributing to lockouts, driving up salaries, team still sucks. He wants to win, he just doesnt get how.

Are we forgetting how much money Pegula has spent???? He may not be a great owner to us ATM. But he definitely isn't holding back from spending money.

Agreed. We will see how tonight plays out. If by some miracle we end up with the top pick I would trade down to three and see if we couldnt get the 2nd pick by packaging Minnys first and whatever picks/players (Vanek,Miller come to mind) to make it happen. Darcy doesnt have the stones but if he could pull of a Burke like draft day trade when he got the Sedins I would be a very happy camper...however back to reality we end up with the 8th pick most likely. Hopefully Minny gets bounced in the first round and their pick would be somewhere around 15 I believe. Not bad but still we need to make a huge splash via trade or draft. Enough trying to build around Free Agency.

There is a difference between spending money blind and recklessly and smart spending. No matter how much money Terry spends, it won't get us anywhere as long as it isn't spent intelligently.

Even if there wasn't a salary cap the big spenders (NY Rangers) weren't successful. It takes more than an open check book and a blank check to build a good team. Pegula has done big things with his checkbook but until he realizes the person making the hockey decisions isn't the man for the job nothing will change. I am nervous knowing Reiger is the man in charge of this rebuild. He hasn't shown the ability to make that signature move most GM's have to make.

That's the problem, we all knew he was passionate when he bought the team but what we didn't realize is that he has no clue what the (frank) he is doing.

because they all say they are evaluating him since the new regime arrived, and honestly, besides leino, hes done a pretty decent job. Get rid of stafford and leino in the offseason and then you have a seriously strong looking rebuild.

now, the mistake is just that, ignoring the previous 12 years.

He thinks that giving us this...

Some how satisfies our desire to have this...

The irony of course being Terry is the only owner in Sabres history to proudly boast he was bringing it here...........in 3 years no less.

Not sure I saw that anywhere but either way Pegula is now pocketing 50% of thte total revenue instead of 43% under the new CBA. Buffalo never struggles to sell tickets, raising the prices is BS.
- Tsyolin

why is it BS. Every business raises there prices about 3-5% a year this is a normal price rise do to the raise in cost of living. Oh wait he is rich damn give that sh%t away.

I've already said that I'm okay with Darcy staying on board as long as the so called "rebuild" is short term. I don't think I can trust him with anything long term though.

I said it's BS because this team is by no means struggling economically, the fact that even though the teams continues to sell-out we still need to up the prices to meet the NHL standards is absolutely mind-numbing. Personally, it doesn't affect me since I've never held season tickets and likely never will.

sabres will watch a team with less odds get it, flyers, and they will move to 9th
- homiedclown

Odds are greater that we fall to 9th than get the 1st. Figures.

It's not just the cost of living. It's the mandatory raise in order to continue to be eligible for revenue sharing.

Not trying to make excuses for Darcy, but I dont beleive that of the time he has been here, he's spent 70% of that time trying to please owners and trustees.

Rigas years, "Were busy stealing, keep things relatively cheap" Almost won the cup.

Golisano "Im here to save the team, not go broke making your dreams come true". Had one of our best teams ever then let it go.

Pegula "Im the best and were gonna be the best. Go spend my money Darcy". We're terrible. As bad as ever. What happens in the future??????

We all knew it was happening. What happens with Rolston is the real question.
