He can say what he wants. Yak is better.

Yaks is better, but Gallagher's been great this year. Huberdeau's been shades of Tavares in leading the Cats and Brodin seems to be the sexiest pick of all.

Toss up for sure. I'd love to see Yakupov win it because he might have been the most impressive Oiler rookie defensively.

That's why I think he deserves it. Not just his offensive output but his defensive and physical game. I don't recall seeing the kid take a single game off.

I another year the idea that Saad and Schultz would be also-rans is CRAZY.

I'd be somewhat dismayed if Yakupov wasn't one of the finalists. Not that it means anything though, as Taylor Hall looks to be a great player without out it.

ROTY can be a great indicator of talent: Ovechkin, Malkin, Kane, Heatley are just a few past winners.

It can also mean nothing: Mason, Raycroft, Jackman and Samsonov also won it.

Conclusion: We all want an Oiler to win it because it's the only individual award that an Oiler has never won.

And also because three consecutive 1st overall picks not yielding a Calder would bring the trolls out of the woodwork.

My favourites were the Leafs fans who despite the Kessel trade felt it was within reason to say that Seguin was an elite player in the making and Hall was a poor man's Nathan Horton.
