Finally!!!! Isles it is. Good young team. Tavares is a beast. However it is time to get our first series win against these guys. Been a thorn in my side since 92-93.

Payback and take no team for granted.

Well, the Islanders have worse defense than Ottawa and a worse goalie. Pens can't afford to sit in the penalty box for this series. The Islanders PP is dangerous. That is the only thing that concerns me really. The Islanders are talented and are making progress, but I can't imagine this goes more than five really IF Pittsburgh shows up with a purpose.

Very interested about that Washington v. Rangers series

I think that's the key. 5 on 5, I don't think this matchup is close. but if the penguins do what they did last year and take a penalty every 5 minutes, it will be a competitive series.

this series reminds me of 2007 Ottawa/Pittsburgh series.

Rangers are not an ideal matchup for Capitals.

I could see that happening. Habs and Bruins have been sleepwalking for a while now.

I don't see either the Habs or Boston surviving. They ain't playing good hockey.

No, but you have a Washington team playing pretty decent hockey versus a team playing just well enough to squeek in.

The dippoop that handles the Edmonton blog has Boston beating Pittsburgh in 6 to win the East. Doesn't think the Pens can handle Boston's toughness.

I like that some people (even though they aren't bright) are picking the Islanders to win. I don't like when the Penguins are heavy favorites.

Hopefully the idea of winning one for Morrow and Iggy will keep the Penguins focused on what matters.

This team is too deep. They still look very hungry. If Sid comes back and stays healthy, this series will be a laugher.

I'm an Islander fan. I agree with you 100%. I think this Pens team is better than the cup losing/winning teams by far. And I see NHLN questioning Fleury but they shouldn't because you guys have a viable backup who played pretty damn well this year.

Yes ... also maintains Hemsky is still worth a first round pick. He hasn't watched one face-off of the Boston v. Pittsburgh three game series this year. If he had, he wouldn't be opening his yap about Pittsburgh not being able to handle Boston's toughness. Morrow, Iggy, Murray ... Pittsburgh got them especially for a Boston match-up.

That is exactly what people are forgetting. We do have a solid back-up goalie - something we haven't had for a few years. Fleury does let in some softies. Everyone knows it. However, people shouldn't be fooled. Fleury wasn't the reason we lost to the Flyers last year. It was the teams effort.

I haven't seen Boston look tough for two months. To me, they look like a dead team walking. They only played about 15 mins tonight. How do you go into a meaningful game like tonight and lay an egg like that? I could easily see the leafs beating them.

I don't see the Pens playing perfect playoff (say that fast!) hockey this series. It would be nice to see the PK gain some momentum this series. With the ridiculous depth at forward, we won't have any trouble scoring. We just have to stay out of the box, not turn over the puck at the blue lines, backcheck hard and stay strong in front of our own net and this should be a good series to get us into beast mode moving forward.
