As I have stated, when major players are out, the Pens usually have a focus on attention to detail and succeed despite having the Crosby's Malkins or Letangs out at the same time. Once they all return, the loosey goosey style rares its ugly head and bad habits form. - Oneonta Penguin
exactly. same thing happened last year. Crosby and malkin both missed games towards the end of the year and then they come back for the playoffs and the players think they won the cup in the beginning of April.
I'd like to think that a repeat of last year won't happen again, but I would be lying to you if I said it didn't concern me. |

Still have some things to clean up. I still have some concerns. Maybe not if we play the Islanders, outside their PP, but ... - Oneonta Penguin
Well...I think Crosby just lost his linemate Kuni to Geno. |

There is something about the way Ottawa plays that I really don't want to deal with in the first round. I don't think they are as talented as the Islanders, but ...

playing Ottawa and ny islanders each has their own advantages and disadvantages. I believe in the pens no matter who we play, but if I had to pick a matchup, i'd pick Ottawa. |

Wow. Awesome third. Gladly take that without Sid.
So Ott or NYI. Still don't wish for either, we get what we get.
They both are playing like they want the Penguins. Not exactly the smartest move.
When Malkin, Neal and Kuni were together they looked spectacular.
Sid Duper and Iggy? |

Sid duper and Iggy could work very well. Although Malkin is very talented, he doesn't bring out the talent in other players like Sid does.
But Cooke-sutter-morrow on the 3rd? I love that |

I'd prefer the islanders and I pray that the reunite Kunitz malkin and Neal because I have been asking for those exact lines u mentioned since the iggy trade, but no you can't break up the best line in hockey I question how people can say that when Crosby could assist a bag of peanuts on the ice |

The Sens have a solid work ethic. I want the Isle too. They were puke in their last game against Buf......a game they should have been "up" for.
Damn.... The Real Deal was sick tonight. Been a while since we've seen those kind of snipes! |

I'd put him on the 3rd as a wing and bump Cooke down to the 4th |

Either way, he deserves 3rd line minutes. I remember a 'Canes fan saying he was a better wing than center, but he's been a great fill-in for Sid.
Geno's line was sick tonight. If Sid comes back playing like he did before the injury, I pity the first round opponent. No chance. Their heads will be spinning. |

Mine too. I've been sold for a long time on this idea. Morrow/Jokinen 3rd line for sure. |

Brandon Sutter might just have become the best 4th line center in hockey history by default. LOL! |

I would agree with that canes fan. I'm pretty sure his "natural position" is LW but they would put him on the right cause morrow is on the left of sutter already. Whatever they do jussi absolutely earned those minutes best pick up of the season in my opinion. I was shocked he cleared waivers but shero being the genius he is managed to get him with the canes picking up some of the bill for a 6th rounder. |

Funny thing is that the Hurricanes are pickin up some of the tab and seeing him score not only once, but twice against them. Very strange to let a player of his caliber go this way... Btw, I wouldn't like to split Cooke/Sutter but if it happens, oh well. |

Sucks we have to wait to figure out who we play. But throwing up an 8 spot is a good way to go.
Thanks Pens for a great year, now let's get serious!!!! |

Great game! I was glad that I got to see it in person. The way they answered Carolina and then kept the pedal pressed to the floor was great. The PP looked as good as we all thought it could with Neal and Martin back. Obviously since its Carolina you take it with a grain of salt but it was good to see them take the game over.

I'm still hoping we play the Islanders in the 1st round, really....maybe if we play Ottawa they'll start to take dumb penalties? That could be good as well.. |

Jokinen has been a tremendous pick up, off waivers no less. And Morrow adds toughness we have lacked for years. I like the composition of this team and feel they will gel, especially getting Martin back. He is a totally different player this year. |

And Paulie came back well. I was afraid he was going to get back to last year's shape/ways after this injury.
So Boston chooses who they will play against in the 1st round. If they beat Ottawa at home (most likely scenario), they'll play the Islanders. If they lose, they'll play the Leafs.
Pittsburgh vs Ottawa very likely right now. |
