Yeah....wow...the Internet. *shakes head* I'm gonna lose sleep tonight.

I might lose sleep over the lack of urgency tonight though. We're playing Pittsburgh, I just hope we're up to it. It just sucks to go from thinking we can make noise in the playoffs to being the 8th seed in the span of 48 hrs.

It actually seems like you might lose sleep. You came in here coming right after me for whatever reason and start cursing like a truck driver. Might need a few deep breaths and maybe a walk around the yard.

The Pens will need to do two things to beat up. First, arrive at the rink on time. Second, put on their equipment and skate onto the rink. If they do those two things, it's a sweep.

If I'm Bylsma and I get the Isles, I'd go as far as letting Sid watch for at least the first 2 or 3 and see how it goes.

Should I bring up PAP?

Maybe DP?

it doesn't matter. I'm 95 years old. Been a fan since they came into the league. I was even a fan when the expansion talks were talking place. I help build the coliseum. I attended every cup game and was the stick boy my entire childhood.

Dont forget the time you helped make the ice & filled the redline with your own blood!

I think it depends on the team more than anything. Trading him to a team we would have directly competed against would not have been smart in my opinion. Trading him to a Florida or Colorado, I would have loved it.

Ken, you gloss over whatever you want, I get it. Just ignore the fact that most of this board has had its problems with the way this team has been run. Just like you.

It doesn't matter to me. I don't give 2 poops about being right. But, I am leaving now. I do curse a lot though, that I can't deny.

If you send him to a competing team and get a second round back, you are basically getting an early third. If you send him to a sh!tty team you have a late first.

That's why I think the team matters. Sending him to Chicago for a second is the same as sending him to Florida for a third.

Where did you think this team would end up at the start of the season? Now I know this is Hockeybuzz so your answer will be "We'd end up in 8th place with 55 points, play the Penguins and Tavares will get 28 goals". But if anyone feels like a little honesty, where did you put this team in January?

The team got hot and went on a run. Nothing more, nothing less. That run is the reason why we are where we are. The entire season as a whole was not good at all and over an 82 game season we miss the playoffs. Now we are going to play the Pens and get swept. I don't view that as a success after a 5 year rebuild.

- kencan98

In the 08-09 season, the islanders finished an EIGHTY TWO game season with 61 total points. They completed their 48 game season tonight with 55 points. Im not saying this is a total and complete rebuild, but if you honestly think their is no progression, then i dunno what youre looking at.

Its HUGE progress, to play that much better while you have 1 player bringing down your whole 1st line & making perfect passes to the other team on a regular basis!!

I agree, i think its been a complete turnaround. I understand this team has some holes to fill, but my god some people are on the ledge tonight.

Most of those points came within the last 4 weeks. If you look at the rest of the season it's the same Islanders we always see. I think the DP demotion was the start of the "good times" and that lifted the team quite a bit because in my opinion it showed the team that management finally cared. That's how I saw it anyway. But again if you take out the run they had over the past 4 weeks you get the same Islanders we've always had.

And we will see that "same Islanders" next week come playoff time as well.

Think about this we had to go on an unbelievable run, one of the best in Islanders history, and we'll make it into the playoffs by a point.

But we were good enough to go on a run. Thats how teams make playoffs. The team was incapable of going on a run in previous seasons. thats the difference.
