"With the first overall pick, acquired from the Edmonton Oilers for spare parts, the Toronto Maple Leafs are proud to select...... Junior Systemtoooooooooooooolllllll!!!!"
- lumlums

right idea... wrong team.

Leafs acquired the pick from the Vancouver Canucks, as a result of helping their then new (2nd time) general manager Brian Burke, who took over at Mike Gillis crapped the bed with regard to the CAP. Burke sent 2 firsts and a second to Toronto in exchange for Jake Gardiner, along with Edler and David Booth... as a portion of the moves necessary to clear enough CAP to field a somewhat competitive team. Because Burke also dealt Schneider to New Jersey for Adam Henrique and New Jersey's first... he felt he could make the deal. Burke's adviser, Cliff Fletcher, was heard saying "draft schmaft" repeatedly.

I really do hope the Leafs match up against the Habs... for all the historic reasons... which having experienced some of them are great. That being said the series would and will be decided by one thing and one thing only - no not goaltending.

Officiating.

If the NHL pulls the crap that they pulled in the Winnipeg Montreal game last night... well it will be a short boring series.

- BorjeFan4Ever

I think the refs let a little more go in the playoffs...

He should be playing in Ontario!!
- systemtool

I know. I want to farm him out to where my sister lives, have him play in the Sault. That would toughen him up on the ice.

Here's a few notable things to look for... he often wears 88 because his favourite number isn't available - that would 13 ... he's got blonde hair ... I'm trying to get him to wear one of those goofy looking Jofa helmets... but he refuses. He wears Salming brand gloves - that is not a joke.

seriously, if anyone knows anyone who scouts midgets... or has junior B connections in south central Ontario .. .I would appreciate a PM

now you aren't one of those Habnots that still doesn't understand why MacArthur beat the crap out of Spacek are you?

are you one of those fans who believes "Patchy" was crying about really being bitten are you?

are you one of those fans who thinks the Orr simply beat the crap out of Bourque and made Gionta crap in his pants just for fun... or was it perhaps because the genius Plekanec gave him the stick behind the play (you'll note behind should be emphasized)

perhaps now that the Habs have a Tinordi in the line-up... the Leafs should be bringing back Wendel Clark for another round of Tinordi smashing...

need I go on.

officiating always favors the Habs... always has, always will. they always get a powerplay in the dying seconds of the 2nd period when trailing. always.

but it will be great because Mike Johnson won't be able to spew his 'habs are wonderful' speeches when the games are on CBC.

you really need to drop this line of thought

officiating goes both ways

technically kadri should be facing a suspension for throwing a punch when a guy was already down

but he didnt even get an additional call.

it is not biased towards the habs in any way shape or form. that is just leaf media propaganda.. if you look for it.. you can find bias for every single team in the league.. its just that the toronto media machine really loves to point out any favourable call for the habs.

just keep that in mind. it always goes both ways, always has always will.

I'd feel bad for Habs fans. I think they would prefer a REAL rival.

i don't quite get it. i think it's possible that there are times when Montreal gets a PP because the other team committed an infraction. ref blaming usually stems from a fan's insecurity about their own team. refs make mistakes, a lot, especially this year which is understandable, but it goes both ways, and it very, very rarely affects the outcome of a game. and even when it does, that poop balances out over the year.

I hope I'm wrong I really do.

And just for clarity, this isn't me spewing Toronto media baloney, that is why I despise guys like Berger, Cox and the rest because they churn on nonsense. The commentary is based on personal observation - not media commentary. No doubt the Toronto media will be miles behind the propaganda machine in Montreal, which will be doing everything possible to make the Habs out not to be the favourites that they should be going into the series... after all they were so far ahead in the division. And because of how well they were playing etc.

We'll see who's spewing the most sewage.

Rhetorical question: Does Kerry Fraser leave Montreal alive if he makes the Gretzky non-call if it were the Habs and not the Leafs?
