ya not tonight but sat yes if neal comes back... and Jeffrey >tk IMO but who the hell cares what I think
- nh4442

I understand you're Duper argument---I just know---and I think you do too---that he either leaves or goes down a line next year.

Jeffrey is definitely more of a hassle than TK. He's capable of using his speed properly and goes to the net and isn't afraid to dish the puck without turning it over.

One of the things I wish they had gotten to tinker with is the powerplay. I'm really afraid they have reached a point where they might suffer from "too many cooks in the kithcen" syndrome when everyone gets healthy. They really have the personnel at this point to ice 2 completely separate units that would be match-up nightmares for the opposing PK:

Black unit:
Iginla (shooter)-Crosby (half wall)-Kunitz (net front)
Points: Letang-Niskanen

Gold Unit:
Neal (shooter)-Malkin (half wall)-Morrow (net front)
Points: Martin-Despres/Duper

Notice I have not designated one unit or the other as the first unit....Give each unit close to equal time and change after a minute and keep coming in waves....no one has the PK personnel to match up against this kind of lineup.

I think I read a while back that the NBC networks are going to show every game. Likely then no games on the NHL Network, but like the Olympics, we might get some games on some strange channels like CNBC or USA or whatever.

I have no problem with resigning him and keeping him as a fill in for top 6 lines if there are injuries but I think it would be more balanced lines with who we have NOW, if he was on 3rd line.. but anyway

That's just the way I coach...

Rather than screw with trying to call a unit off after the first minute, just switch which unit starts the PP each time. Alternate units starting the PP and then cycle guys in off the other unit. It'll balance out over time. One PP might mean that Gold unit gets 1:20 and the Black unit gets 0:40. The next time around though, it's reversed. It'll balance out over a game and a series.

Also, I'm with swapping Martin onto the first unit and Nisky onto the 2nd. Though Martin & Letang being on different units definitely balances the point out.

Either would be sick coming over the boards, but normally you have to club Malkin over the head to get him off the ice on the PP.

If they are truly buying into the team first concept, splitting up Malkin and Sid absolutely is the right call.

True, but TK has proven that he can score clutch goals in the playoffs. Hopefully he'll do it again this postseason.

It depends on who comes back. I don't think there is a need to move Duper down a line at all. Chemistry means something. Crosby, Kunitz and Duper are nails. What's to say, Morrow, Iggy are back. Duper is a first line guy for sure if that is the case and those two aren't back. Hell, an argument could be made he is a first line guy even if they are.

Last year this started. There were games on NBC, NBC Sports (Vs), CNBC, and MSNBC. I don't think USA had any, but I could be wrong.
For Penguins fans, I'd expect every game will be either on NBC or NBC Sports.

Similar, but not the same. The MDZ hit looked more like he was just going to shrug Neal off with his back but the elbow just happened to hit Neal's head. Brown, on the other hand, deliberately put his arm out to fend off Pommer. I don't think either were malicious, but Brown was definitely more of a reckless play than MDZ, and this is coming from a huge Dustin Brown fan (although I'll admit I'm a bit biased AGAINST Neal). I thought 2 games was about right.
- jmatchett383

The big problem I see is the inconsistency of Shannahan. MDZ no suspension ( I do not think he should have been suspended either, incidental play IMO). Rick Nash's flying elbow to the back of an opposing players head, no suspension. Dustin Brown 2 games. I don't think Brown was trying to injure, but was a bit reckless, no problem with the 2 games. I think Nash had a bit of malice in his elbow and should have received at least 2, if not 5. I just don't believe there is any rhyme or reason as to deciding suspensions for worthy infractions in the NHL.

We can afford to lose Paul Steigerwald in the playoffs.

Anyone see this about the Leafs socking it to their fans for playoff tickets?

No argument against that. I just think by next year Beau should be given a shot at full time top 6 duties. Don't forget that even though history says Duper will re-sign the last contract me may get offered could say otherwise. He has to be included in the 'depends who re-signs' category too.

I want him back but I understand if he leaves for a big payday. I'm for giving TK's money to Dupuis, Iginla and Morrow.

Whoo!

@MolinariPG: Penguins C Sidney Crosby, who hasn't played since having his jaw broken March 30, received clearance today to practice with his teammates.

@MolinariPG: There still has been no decision on when Crosby might be able to resume playing, but there's no chance of that before the playoffs.

I thought playoff ticket prices were dictated by the NHL?

It's not like TK makes $5M/year to share his money to all these good players

I would like to see Murray, Morrow and Iginla back but that's almost impossible...unless Paulie, TK and Glass leave ($8M between them!)

Edit: I voted for Neal (each game I feel like we don't "really need him" with Iggy and Morrow here, since he's ONE DIMENSIONAL)...I might have hurt some feelings here...

I'm just making a funny, man. It's obviously a tough situation with the cap next season. The good news is that it's the lowest it will be for the life of this CBA.

Absolutely. Can't wait to see what kind of damage we can do in the playoffs. I might miss some games in the 1st round unfortunately

Kunitz(Dupuis)-Crosby-Iginla
Dupuis(Kunitz or Bennett)-Malkin-Neal
Morrow-Jokinen-Bennett(Dupuis)
Cooke-Sutter-Adams

Glass-Vitale-Jeffrey-TK

Those are the lines I'd roll with. If Bennett is out (due to age/experience), I'd throw in TK.

Great news for Sid, hope he is adjusting quickly to the new face shield. Can't wait to get the whole team back together....If that is possible.

Since Im a Steelers fan... yep... I am... and have no one on the Rangers board to discuss this with...

Got my fingers crossed we get Jarvis Jones and Eddie Lacy or Tyler Eifert.
