I can't figure out if this post is serious or not. Flyers aren't good at all, Isles injuries are much worse, Luongo, etc etc. The flyers are a good YOUNG team, sure they are not making the playoffs this season, that doesn't mean they don't have a young core that will be good for years to come. As for injuries, last year's Isles vs this years Flyers, the Flyers win in that department easily as well. No, Luongo is not the answer, While Bryz hasn't been what he was in Phoenix he hasn't been 100% the problem. The Flyers system is a big part of the problem for the defense / goalie, it leaves the goaltender out to dry. Mason has looked very good since being traded to Philly. You can diss the Flyers as much as you want but atleast make sure it's true.

You had a Stanley Cup contender two years ago. Now you have "hope for the future". That would be fine if everyone on your contending team was 38 years old, but most of the guys you ditched are in their prime now. Your GM is cr*p, as far as I'm concerned, end of story. Laviolette has won a Stanley Cup already, so it's not his fault.

and here i was thinking the islanders beat the flyers in every way this season...silly me!!
- LetsGoIsles

We had every one of our starting defensemen out last year...or the year before...or both...whatever...but for a certain period of time, they were all injured. EVERY ONE OF THEM, but you didn't hear any of us saying "how great the Islanders would be" if we only had our defensemen. I guess we just accept the idea that "we suck" a lot better than most fans do. That's the point. Working in this area, I just get tired of picking up a paper every time the Flyers lose, and reading Servalli blowing smoke up the a*s of a cr*p team- and if I rooted for them, it would pi*s me off twice as much. It's ridiculous. That's the point.

@MolinariPG: Penguins C Sidney Crosby, who hasn't played since having his jaw broken March 30, received clearance today to practice with his teammates.

Not loving the approach to this game. I hope they don't mail it in for the last two games only to end up 8th. But who knows...maybe rested players like Carkner, Poulin, etc. will inject some energy.

Why would they mail it in when they're a point out of 5th?

Philly has nothing to play for and they play a physical style so you have to play your tougher guys in this instance. Plus like NYI said you have to play Poulin and Boulton & Carkner won't play much so its all good

maybe after gift wrapping the flyers the first two goals Carkner can start a fight while we're on an odd man rush and give the team a boost.

oh wait..That actually worked.

Yea still plenty of combatants without Rinaldo. Plus this way you don't have to worry about him going all Clarence “Screaming Buffalo” Swamptown on JT.

poulin HAS to start
- NYI78

The next 2 games. If we follow up our worst game of the past month and a half with a strong performance, we can beat the Flyers and Sabres without Nabby.

I'd even go as far as bringing up Nelson or Strome for a game and give them the first line and give JT a night off. I could see that perm headed d1ckbag on the Flyers taking someone out and we don't need one of our stars hurt.

Hopefully they don't! First 10 minutes will tell the story...whether they're happy with what they have or whether they're on a mission to finish with the highest seed possible. Think they can do themselves a huge favor by holding on to 6th or jumping to 5th. 7th or 8th will be a really tough haul.

This team wouldnt dress crappy players when they were out the last few years to drop games for a chance at a better pick. I def dont see them mailing it in. I just think it makes sense with the big forwards that philly has and the physical style to start poulin. Couldnt you see Hartnell running the goalie just to knock him out? I could. Makes sense to not play nabby this game.
