What kind of money is Streit going to want? And how many years? he's an over 35 player. For what I think he's going to want, hard to justify him being a 3rd pair and 2nd PP unit player.

What kind of questions are they? Who knows? LOL

If that's the case then obviously I wouldn't give him anywhere close to 5. Maybe 7 over two years, but not much more. At the right price, Streit is beyond serviceable and would fit in terms of a need.
- GirouxForTheShow

Isles will probably re-up him with how well they've been playing and the fact that he's team C. If not, I wouldn't expect the Flyers to be able win his services by offering him a short term contract plus a pay cut.

I think the d problem will have to be solved via trade... otherwise, we're going to be stuck with Zbynek Michalek at $4M for 5-years or some such nonsense.

He is the captain? That I didn't know. And the trade thing I can agree with. In FA there is a tendency to overpay. Although I'm curious to see how the new CBA will effect the lesser contracts, with Perry and Getz resigning 8 year deals there may not be as much as a downward curve for star players.

Ilya Bryzgalov - G - Flyers
Ilya Bryzgalov is happy to work alongside Steve Mason next season should the Flyers keep the tandem together.
"It's great for the team when you have two good goalies," he said. "During this season, I didn't have much opportunity for rest during a long stretch and was kind of exhausted, and when you have the luxury of having a second goalie who can play great, too, it's wonderful for the team. Healthy competition is always good."

---------------------------

I don't remember Bryz being this excited about having Bob push him last year. Then again last year the rationale was that having Bob around was keeping Bryz from being the elite goalie his contract dictated he be. I guess the reasoning this year is the exact opposite with him being a potential buyout candidate.

Nutters free agent targets. In hopes of filling what was lost with the departure of Jagr, Lappy and Pronger. Teaching the kids to play the right way, while not being expected to carry the team.

Jagr
Douglas Murray
Morrow
Iginla
Boyd Gordon
Streit (stopgap for D)

These guys would not be expected to be here long term, but infusing some of that "right" attitude and way to play on to the kids imo is a great thing.

Good for him to come out and say that. I'd prefer they cut the cord with Bryzgalov but would be somewhat cool with him getting another real crack at things.

I think Gags brings the same thing in a quieter way and would be happy to be the guy. He also brings more as a two-way player than Jags (whom I love, don't get me wrong).

Flyers made the right call to move on from Jagr this year. The Flyers need to bring in younger players.

Not really interested in overpaying for any of those players. What role would envision Gordon playing here?

I dont want any of these free agent defensemen. Not even Streit. There is nothing the Flyers can do with giving up a significant young piece/pieces in a trade. Flyers are likely not winning a cup next year. Schenn and Cooters trade value took a bit of a hit and they are RFA to be next year. Lets draft Nurse or Pulock and largely stand pat with the squad we have. We should have way more trade and free agent options next year.

I don't think this Season lowered the trade value of Couturier and Schenn one bit. They're not likely to stand pat. There will be moves made.

Do you feel significant move(s) will be made because thats what they do or that they'll be made because thats what they should do? If it's the latter, you'd probably have an opinion on which flyer(s).

/Team Gags

Jagr is great, but Jagr is gonna want to get paid similarly to what he was paid this year, if not a small bump.

I'm not sure if I want to invest that kind of money in Jagr, even as much as I think he's great and his skills still seem to be pretty good.

I don't have specific deals in mind if that's what your asking. And yes, I think they'll make some moves because that's what they always do. And yes, I think they should make some moves. There are some complicated issues with this off season. I think they will make some kind of trade. What specifically, I don't know. But they'll have something up their sleeve.

Jagr, to me, embodies the drive needed to win the Cup. The fact he had a key to the practice rink, that he was the first on and last off the ice. That type of personality is key, especially for a team that has had a pretty major roster turnover with a young young nucleus.

On the ice, Jagr and Giroux were pretty dominant 5 on 5. It seemed to me this year a lot of teams had a game plan to deny G space which only makes sense, I think having Jagr there would have opened up more space then say Hartsy/Voracek would. And I'm not even saying that Voracek isn't as good as a forward, just that Jagr would command more respect.

And on the PP, our 2nd unit is pretty awful so I don't see how bumping Simmonds or Hartnell down to the 2nd PP would have been such an issue.

I will also go out on a limb and say the Flyers will make some sort of roster move. I will also go out on a limb and say, the sun should rise tomorrow, and if it does, it should rise in the East.
