Blues first round pick that was traded to you is officially yours for this year as we clinched a playoff spot. Yes, that is correct, JBo will get his first NHL playoff action.
Thanks again guys.

I thought he said he didn't want to play for the Leafs; too close to home etc.? - TandA4Flames
Because he was a Flame when he was asked about it. Just a gut feeeling. |

Colin, I'm not sure what contacts or insight you have but I was wondering, do you have any info on where guys like Tangs and Cammi's heads are at in regards to being on a "rebuilding" team? I know they both liked being here but was that more to do with their buddy Jarome being here? - TandA4Flames
Cammi's at a point in his career that he won't want to stick around for a retool or build. Don't see him sticking around. Tangs not so sure. |

I've been there as well. It was okay. If you ever dare to go back to Jamaica try the Sandals at Negril. Absolutely the best. The only thing I would say was the entertainment was just okay but for me I find entertainment the same on cruise ships. The beach was the best I've ever seen. - whipper334
Which ships have you been on, because Royal Caribbean, on the big ships has excellent entertainment. |

Don't bet on it, unless we are facing the Kings. I like our odds against any other potential matchup.
Kings give us trouble. Would be awesome though if we face them and knock them out in the first round.

Haven't been on RC. Holland, Princess and Carnival. I know they've had some issues but Carnival as been the best. I've never had one issue. |

Just in case people aren't scoreboard watching, last night was huge for CGY as all teams we need wins out of, except for COL, won last night. It looks like we will pick no worse than 7th assuming we will at worst, lose in a tie somewhere in these last 2 or the teams ahead will at least get 1 more point. Also, NSH, CAR and EDM are only a point behind and EDM has a game in hand. Also, TBL have a game in hand and are 4 points back with 3 games to go. 3rd overall is still a possibility but likely 4th or 5th. That's still Barkov or Monahan territory. Maybe Karma cuts us a break with the team playing hard and not mailing it in. |

I definitely think you could take Vancouver. I'm not so sure about LA, Ana, Chi...
Will be fun to watch. |

I was on the newest ship to the MSC line 2 years ago. Unbelievably nice ship. Of course, that was the only cruise I've been on so.......... |

And I hope Florida doesn't lose the lottery. We don't need to get pushed back a spot. (unless of course we win it) |

Possibly jumping the gun on this seeing as the season isn't over and this was a blog about the draft, but despite the cap going down next year, the Flames will have a ton of room to play with at the end of the season. I was looking at capgeek.com and checking out the potential free agents, including Flames whose contracts expire at the end of the season, and thought I'd have a bit of fun picking who to re-sing, who to sign, and who to offer sheet. I think we're all agreed to go young, so with the exception of bringing back Jarome (hopefully at a nice discount), I kept to UFAs under 30. This is my list, in alphabetical order:
Re-sign:
Aliu (R) RFA
Backlund (C) RFA
Brodie (D) RFA
Cervenka (C) UFA
Cundari (D) RFA
Explore signing:
Bickell (L) UFA
Bozak (C) UFA
Clarkson (R) UFA
Fehr (R) UFA
Iginla (R) UFA
MacArthur (L) UFA
Stalberg (L) UFA
Possible offer sheet?:
Burmistrov (C)
Hartikainen (L)
Henrique (C)
Hodgson (C)
Loktionov (C)
McDonagh (D)
Muzzin (D)
Pietrangelo (D)
Shattenkirk (D)
Tanev (D)
Wellwood, E. (L)
Zuccarello (L)
Obviously not getting (or wanting to get) everyone on the list and it's likely most of the RFAs will be re-signed by their own team, but a potential wish list. Also, I wasn't really looking at specific team needs, other than youth, just BPA. Thoughts? |

We are pretty much locked into the 6th spot at worst, so our matchup will be LA, San Jose, or Vancouver. I am perfectly content with playing San Jose or Vancouver. LA gives us trouble, but I would be fine with the chance to knock them out in the first round. |

We can only get pushed back if someone behind us wins the lottery. As long as FLA, COL or TBL or whoever finishes 27th or worse wins the lottery, we are fine. Of course winning the lottery would be awesome for us. Murray helped out Bettman a lot during the lock out didn't he? |

I'm not big on offer sheets. Given our cap space and the cap ceiling going down next year, i would rather try going the trade route. Keep ours and any 1st and 2nd rounders we have or acrue along the way. Cap space is our currency for the coming year. |

I agree and certainly wouldn't place more than one offer, if any, but some of these guys are pretty tempting... A known quantity rather than the gamble of the draft? Keep the cap space as much as possible, for sure. We'll have our own top-end RFAs soon enough. |
