Nope. On some things, but on the big ones, like the team needing to lose the next 3 absolutely not. - Iggysbff
This team wont need to lose the next 3- they WILL lose at least 2 out of the 3 though... |

so Gagner is too small so your solution is to draft an 18 year old kid who's 1inch taller to replace him? good plan - SpoiledByOil
dont u mean 4 inches, 15 lbs and 6 years younger? (still growing)
i dont think we should expect any 18 year old to replace gagner for at least a few years. cloutier just doesnt understand what it takes to build a winner.
but regardless barkov is noticeably bigger. he'll prob be playing at 210-215 by the time hes gags' age |

Damn I missed the fugging thread again.
My question about Barkov: for a team that's concious about making immediate improvements (by getting bigger), do we want to go the route of trading Gagner and replacing him with an 18 year old? With any luck, a guy like Barkov becomes a true powerforward, but he may just end up like a Martin Hanzal type: good, but not worth waiting 6 years for. Why not just trade Gagner for Hanzal if we're both intent on getting better now and swapping Gags for size? |

We could for sure, but I might go crazy if we continue to re-tool our forwards.
RNH-Barkov-Hanzal-Lander is ridonculous down the middle though. Then again, so could RNH-Gagner-XXXXX-Horcoff be with the right linemates.

phoenix wouldnt deal hanzal for gagner straight up.
hes not much worse offensively than sam, much bigger, stronger defensively and plays tippets system to a tee
but maybe if we could pull a blockbuster and get yandle and hanzal in a deal with our first, gagner, ++ |

So it's ok to throw Barkov right into top six minutes, but it was a mistake to do the same with Nuge, Hall and Yak. |

Probably not, but the point is that it's better to find a "now" solution than a "six years from now" solution if we're interested in replacing Gagner. |

100%
if the plan was to wait for gags growing pains and development and then immediately deal him in favour of an 18 year old...all i could do is laugh at our pitiful organization.. just terrible.
if we want to draft barkov..id be good with that. (rather trade the pick) but gagner is still our 2 next year.
with nuge injured, could u imagine goin into opening day with
horcoff
barkov
lander

I was wondering that when they announced that he was hired... I mean the (frank)ing team could not win with him or try when he took over those games for Renney- and besides that- why would you want to keep things so internal- and inbred.... Its always best to get someone that does not have the tunneled vision to come in and try new things or change a few things... With Kreuger though at about game 30.... when he spewed repeater after every post conference... the "we need to learn from that" -comments got old fast with me. and the thing is he continues.. |
