Nobody showed up for that game, and really you think that game broke our season (yea they were mathematically in it but really). I think it's worth something that he played hard despite the fact that they're out of it. Either that or he's playing his way out of town, you should be happy regardless aside from the fact that it ruined our chance to move down in the standings.

As long as we stay top 10 we should get a really good player. It might not be the same caliber as the guys going top three but definitely an impact player.

Consistently Drafting in the teens and being average to below average consistently will do that. I can go through the team now and compare a lot to Jochen.

Kevin Porter
Brian Flynn
Zemgus Girgensons
Marcus Foligno (Jochen with size)
Corey Tropp
Dan Catenacci (more or less)

All project to be 2nd3rd line players. More consistently on the third line. No elite level prospects.

Armia and Grigs are really the only forward prospects who are boom or bust.

I have a feeling we will resign him. Everyone is too hard on him IMO. Crosby and Malkin are hurt quite a bit, nobody would want to trade them. He's our best player, trading him gets us nowhere but much worse for 3+ years, then maybe we will have a couple good NHL-ready players if we are lucky.

Vanek didn't disappear for the meat of the season, he was out about 5 games toward the end then took all of 1 game to get back to form. Last season he kind of disappeared at one point, not this year.

Crosby and Malkin are 2 of the top 5 players in the world. Vanek is not even in their class. Vanek goes on 15-20 game stretches without getting a point.

I'm basing that on the possibility of one or both Miller/Vanek being gone and the fact that it is an 82 game season next year.
