Maybe, but Carcillo isn't as bad as Cooke. He also scraps when he needs to.
This will be my last post.. I'm sure you're all sick of me already..
I just don't get why the BEST team in the league (when healthy, I say Pitts is much better than Chicago), employs the most hated guy in the league. It seems to be a mismatch.
Regardless of the justifications you have for Cooke or the talk about him being reformed, the fact remains that he is the most hated weasel the NHL has seen in a long time. - Charliebox
It's really pretty simple.... cause he's a cheap effective defensively minded forward with a modest goal scoring touch who kills penalties with the best of them and incites rage in other teams players and their fans which gives one of the best power plays in the league more chances with the man advantage.
Neil has showed time and time again that he will fight anyone. He's fought Chara 3x for god sakes and hasn't lost one of them.
Maybe Neil didn't fight McIntyre cause the guy isn't an NHLer. Ever think of that? Maybe Neil didn't want to break his hand (or his face) in a fight with a guy who can't play hockey? It's the same reason why other tough guys turn down fights with Kassian or McGratten. They aren't even hockey players ffs. - Charliebox
Fine... which is the exact reason a guy way more valuable than Neil in Cooke wouldn't risk breaking his hand fighting a none trick pony Chris Neil.
What's good for the goose is good for the gander my friend.

There was a urine spot on the ice when Murray got in Neil's face.

I really just popped in to read what people thought of that Neal hit on Despres, then I read the Cooke > Giroux thing, and felt the need to question the comparison.
Then it went from there. - wolfhounds
I was fine with it, should have had his head up.....
Anyone who says his elbows were up is crazy, his elbows were down. What he did was pretty text book really. Im not even sure it warranted a charging penalty, I think the officials gave him a penalty due to the scrum and just pulled one out of their arse.

Agreed. Neil getting sent to the box on that play was the same as Cooke getting penalized for getting punched in the face by Neil in the last game. Both were penalized because of the name on the back of their jerseys and because it was a way to keep the game under control. Same reason why Big Mac got 10.

The officials did that A LOT last night, both ways. It was about as horribly an officiated hockey game as I've seen this season. I'm not sure what was worse, some of the calls, or some of the non calls.
Take guy into the boards from behind, sucker punch him in the face and then grab your face like something happened to you.

At least with Neil he is throwing punches and hits(both in the video and the game last night). I can tolerate that from a player like him. I honestly thought the worst of last night was the "high stick" Philips laid on Cooke. The initial contact might have been inadvertent but he definitely gives the stick a twist when he notices its Cooke.

I thought Alfie's crosscheck to the face took the cake. I really can't get over how that was called.
Is there any chance Hartzell is going to get us a start with us? He couldnt possibly be better or more ready for NHL compared to Zhatkoff who played a full, and stellar AHL season, I know he played well in the NCAAs but still....thoughts? did they announce who is in net tonight, I may have missed it?
Damn guys, I got busy at work today and missed out on some good hockey buzz chat. Where did that Flyers fan go? I want to bet him $19.75 that the Flyers will miss the playoffs again next year
More history coming on the heels of Disco's fastest to 200.
Pens can be the first team EVER to take 23 out of 25.
Amazing the records this team is stacking up. - Sell My Monkey
The penguins all-time record reached .500 last night making it the first time in the history of Pittsburgh sports that all 3 teams were .500 or better.
For a Referee, you seem to be trolling quite a bit. - wolfhounds
He is a join the fun kind of guy. Kind of like the guy who is supposed to keep you from overdrinking because you are meeting your wife. Then he drinks so much you both get looped.

It didn't look bad to me either.
And to be completely honest, Charging seems like such a subjective call that I could see it going either way. I mean, aren't all hits initiated after a player comes from point A and arrives at point B? Now I can understand Charging being called if a player is stationary in a scrum against the boards and another player lines him up from a distance and fits as many strides as he can fit in before the hit. But I don't think that was the case with the Neil hit.

LMAO
And your wife then dreads every time you say you're going to the bar with him...we've all got that friend.
