Got it. Guess I just wasn't clear on the point of said undisguised list of synonyms. And I also wanted to be helpful in case anybody else wanted to post their own list or two. - wolfhounds

The point was to beat Daman to the inevitable next question(S) in his feeble attempts to troll, which would undoubtedly consist of 50 versions of the same question regarding how we feel about Crosby. - Rawdog9755
Got it.
Things get pretty contentious around here before the playoffs. No room for jokes or wiseass comments apparently. |

Just curious - with the best (or 2nd) team in the leauge, massive winning streaks, and everything a fan could want - why defend one of the biggest POS (i.e. Cooke) in the league?
If I am from German descent, I brag about engineering superiority, or culture, or beer, or sausages. I don't sing the praises of Hitler.

Your name is better suited to D-douchebag-Man in my opinion. Those who feel supperior and better to others in my experience aren't either. |

Maybe?
I really just popped in to read what people thought of that Neal hit on Despres, then I read the Cooke > Giroux thing, and felt the need to question the comparison.
Then it went from there.

Everyone is entitled to have their own opinion but in the right place and with proper manners I guess. Giroux is better than Cooke off course. We are just sick of people saying stupid stuff about him when he clearly can play the game. He's not a goon (not in the last couple years anyway). |

If I'm not clever, why are you wasting your time reading my deleted comments?
Regardless - need not worry, I'll be rooting for my Pennsylvania brethren throughout the playfoffs.

Exactly. It wasn't suppose to be taken literally.
You would think that Flyer fans would have more important things to worry about like their intense battle for tenth place and trying to reach .500 with the talent on that team. Meh, just hasn't been the same chatting with them since they have been irrevelant the entire season. |

No doubt. His stats don't lie.
The Karlsson incident obviously brought his past back to the forefront. And accident or not, I think he should have fought Neil last night. IMO, it would have been the right thing to do. |

It didn't make much sense for Giroux to be mentioned at all.
Worrying about 10th place doesn't make much sense. And hopefully we'll be back in the mix next season for some more interesting discussions, arguments, etc. |

No, no it wouldn't. I get it if it was a Savard type thing and Cooke needed to answer the bell against Boston. Karlsson and Ottawa - nope. Why should he answer the bell for a play like that, a freak play? |

Typically if you injure another player, you step up and face the music.
I remember when Richards laid a questionable hit on Booth, Richards obliged him w/ a fight. It's honor amongst gentleman.
I would assume that when one hockey player stomps on another hockey player, he should also face the music. Many without honor would not agree. On the flip side, many intelligent fans get it. |

I don't think he needed to fight him there is no point in fighting because the fact that people think he would purposely cut someone with his skate like that is just stupid. Accidents happen people get sliced by skates every so often and fighting would have done nothing. Neil on the other had was constantly trying to instigate someone and whenever Mac would go near him he would tuck his tail between his legs. If he wanted to go so bad then go. |

Because intentional or not, he almost ended the kids career.
And because he's a hockey player.
How many other times have we seen players step up and answer for something they did on the ice? That's one of the things I love about this game, one of the key differences between it and any other sport. |

I'm not trolling I swear, but I just have a question for Pens fans.
Why would you even want Matt Cooke on your team? What benefit does he bring? If he's not a weasel anymore as you say, then what's the point? Surely, the Pens can find another guy who can PK and skate up and down the ice as well as Cooke. He hardly is the reason why the Pens are so good. On a roster with that much talent, he is easily replaceable. I'm sure everyone can agree on that...
The reason I ask is simple: Everyone knows he has a history. There are more than a few players (teams, and fan bases) in the league who absolutely detest him. Sure, he may be 'reformed', but that doesn't change what he's done in the past.. nor does it change opposing teams thoughts about him.
Let's say, for argument's sake, that he lays a huge hit, takes a cheap shot, or just does something totally reckless that injures another team's superstar in the playoffs. If he doesn't stand up for himself and turtles, like he's done in the past, what's going to happen? The other team is going to take runs at your stars, that's what. I don't think it's worth having other teams taking runs at Crosby and Malkin (who have injury histories) simply to have a 'reformed weasel' on your team.
Your stars outnumber and are better than any other team's stars, so why put them in that position?
It seems to me like the benefit of having him on your team is far exceeded by the drawbacks. In the playoffs, the Pens need guys with grit and physicality, sure, but they don't need players who have a history like his. Leave players like him for teams who are struggling to make a name for themselves. |
