Blame the Ipad

He could be, most times I've seen him in from that point to late 1st.

I figured it was something along the lines of my push for "Cooties".

That nickname never seemed to be picked up here.

Of course his potential is MUCH higher than that, but the Flyers have a surplus in young centers in Giroux, Schenn, Couturier, Laughton, etc. They just have too great centers to play them all where their highest potential should place them
- JAKEw1234

If they move Schenn to LW, Couturier can play 2nd line center and Laughton can play 3rd ine C...not really sure that's a huge surplus. Giroux's slotted as the 1, Couturier as the 2, Laughton as the 3 and Schenn plays at a less demanding position, defensively, which suits his abilities right now.

I'm actually really excited for the offseason. It's scary to think about who might get traded away, but at the same time, you know that, in the end, it'd be hard to make us worse than we were this year XD

Oliver is really impressing me.

Great mobility for a big guy and just really seems to give it his all.

In light of all the injuries this year, I started thinking about the 86-87 team. At one point they had 10 regulars out including Kerr, Howe, Poulin, Sutter, McCrimmon, Sinisalo and Propp. Yet they finished with 100 points and went to the finals.

Of course they had a coach who simplified his system and truly made his players fear losing. And they had guy named Hextall in net who kept them in every game. While the ridiculous amount of injuries to the D may be an excuse for struggling now, it certainly wasnt injuries that caused them to start the season 2-6.

Right, well I didn't know Schenn is actually probably better on the wing. I just figured he was a center. In that case, yes, they do have a surplus. All of our centers would still essentially be developing (I argue that Giroux is still developing, I believe most players don't hit their true prime until later 20s).
Hartnell - Giroux - Voracek
Schenn - Couturier - Simmonds
Gagne - Laughton - Read
??? - Talbot - Rinaldo

You're right though that isn't too bad.

HOW ABOUT OUR D THOUGH???

Schenn - Pietrangelo
Timonen - Letang (for Mezaros, and a 3rd, of course)
Grossmann - Subban (For Coburn and a 3rd, naturally)

Mason - Mason

No, but right after I said to Nutter that it was hard to prevent a rebound, I refreshed tweetdeck and Bill had tweeted something similar.

He's about as useful as a pilon. Although im sure the pylon could do a better job of defending

Lilja should be in the ECHL. Even there he'd be a 2nd pairing guy

- FLYERSROCK!

Looked good in the first period. Broke up one good scoring chance. Lilja is at the end of the road of a successful NHL career.

if Couturier meets his potential, he won't be the player playing out of position, due to his superior two way game. And I'm aware of how many Centers the Flyers have.

It is really does. B Schenn is not up to being a second line NHL center right now.

Well, Schenn has been a center for most of his career, but so was Simon Gagne before landing in the NHL.

He could be a very solid center, but I see his issues on the defensive side of the puck and alos the fact that he's got decent size and is pretty strong and could use those assets on a wing as effectively as a center.

I still think they'll have to move a forward for help on the blueline. Even with a new coach, they need at least one guy they can count on for twenty minutes a night, who has good mobility and can QB a PP.

I'm not against making massive changes, but if they just add a good top four guy with the attributes I described above, and they manage to have some good luck, health wise, they could be real solid with just tweaking.

I'd like to see Laughton brought along like Couturier was last year, but given more opportunity to slide up into the top 9 than Couturier has gotten thus far.

We know the kid knows how to play good positional defense, hopefully he can win draws at the NHL level and be a solid 7-10 minute a night player next yer.

Shattenkirk should be on Homers top priority
StL has a poop load of RFA's they need to resign, and they are never a top spending team. Never have been.
With the acquisition of JBow, somebody will be moved... Shats is highly likely now that they got JBow, and have good young dmen.

If im Homer im going straight after Shats when the season is over.

Funny how an ECHL defenseman has fooled so many NHL coaches into dressing him in over 600 NHL regular season + playoff games.

As I see it, here's the reality: He's at the end of a career as a serviceable bottom-pairing NHL defensive D. He was adequate as a 6/7 last year but should have been on a one-year instead of two-year deal. After his hip surgery, he came back a step slower -- and he was very slow to begin with -- and lost out on his role to a younger Dman (Gervais) this year.

Everyone saying it'd be a huge "upset" if Laughton doesnt make the roster and i agree. I thought he was prob good enough to make it this year. He tore it up in the O this year

He will be a perfect 3rd line center for us. I hope they dont trade him.
Jesus if they manage to keep him and Cousins, what a poop disturbing future line of McGinn-Laughton-Cousins would be (this with moving Cousins to wing)

I like Shattenkirk, but he'd be a plan B for me.
