I didn't really see a good angle of the hit on Ehrhoff, but I have no problem with Ott sticking up for a teammate either way.

I think that's a terrible thing to do. They can't just give it to him to keep him here. Someone needs to earn it.

Everyone misinterpreted those statements. He said he wouldn't be on board if we were going for a long-term rebuild like Pittsburgh or Edmonton. He specifically said if it was a quick re-tool he would like to stay in Buffalo.

Nobody has. Roll with 4 As next year (Myers/Ehrhoff, Otter, Hodgson, Foligno) and let them duke it out for C in the year after.

Vanek has said he doesn't want to stick around for a long term rebuild. He's not a player you let walk for nothing. So he's more than likely going to get traded. Either prior to next season or at the deadline.

I think Vanek is contingent on how we do next season. If we are a playoff team or show major improvement I think he would like to stay. I really doubt we trade him during the offseason unless the return is impossible to refuse. If we do trade him it is most likely around the deadline.

So why keep him? He has no leverage and they shouldn't trust him or his agent considering what happened with his last contract. Trade him with a year left while you can get a lot for him.
