He was pretty good at the draft though, that is if he had picks - XxHarounXx
The bar is so low for the Leafs , nobody should be giving credit to anyone except Carlyle till they do something more than qualify after a decade. |

Trades by Burke. He acquired key pieces that have made this team what it is today. Lupul, Gardiner, Kessel, Phaneuf, Liles, MacA, Franson, Fraser all are strong additions to our club. Sure he's had some fails like komi and connolly, but he only gave up money there. The Kessel trade is up for debate, and I wasnt a big fan of it, but our team would not be as good as it is now if we didnt have kessel. Sure Seguin and Hamilton will be better years down the road but kessel is again a ppg forward this year just entering his prime. |

Oilers are the new holders of the current longest playoff drought, enjoy. - Zezel
I didnt realize that till today. The oilers have now matched us in consecutive seasons in missing the cup (7). |

I don't think Burke gets nearly enough credit, especially in the media. This is 95% his roster but a lot of the guys in the media won't admit to him doing anything right. - Jeffmt
The media in this town is stronger than any member of the team. Burke was the only GM that came close to proving otherwise.
The pen is mightier than the enforcer.
JFJ may have drafted Reimer, Gunnerson and Kulemin but he was so poor for this team, it is actually a sin that he is even mentioned here. It's kinda like saying the captain of the Titanic deserves credit for getting the boat to the iceberg so fast.
Burke and his management team made the Leafs of today. They developed those JFJ draft picks. They filled the cupboards back up. They drafted well and created a team that could compete. They had the foresight to make last year's Marlies team go deep into the playoffs by making sure certain players were available which ate up call up choices. That experience helped these young players develop this year. Burke was a lightning rod to this team and took much of the focus away from his players.
I hate that the media turned on someone who gave them something to write about every day. He always made himself available and always gave them a story despite the negative response to himself. He sacrificed himself for this team. His home life suffered, he lost his kid and still worked. He supported our troops, commited himself to charity events and demanded the same of his team.
Burke deserves a hero's sendoff. He may have missed on a few predictions, and overvalued a few players but that ownis should be on them for not working as hard as they could and holding up their end of the deal. Komi was never going to live up to his contact and Army was hurt too often, but the rest simply left him hanging. I salute Brian Burke for his selfless service to the Leafs, their fans and their media pool. |

She's pretty damn hot...Could actually make b-ball quite enjoyable... - Flyfreaky
In all honesty I haven't watched B-Ball in 20 years..used to love the game.. played it also.. but as soon as they had guys off the bench that scored one basket and had fist pumps.. heart taps.. and general I am the man crap..
I lost all interest..
Where in hockey do you see a 4th liner come in score a goal and go on like he is Jordan.. you don't.. I love old basketball.. can't watch any of it now.. I saw the best ever play.. and they were humble.. considering how great they were.
Jordan, Dr. J, Bird, etc.. I saw the best.. these fools that are all over themselves piss me the F off.. you would have to pay me to watch a game.. to a certain extent

Me neither after all these first rounders I think they will have to rebuild again.. once they can't afford all these young players... with the salary cap..
