Murray stat line is pretty incredible. - dbell646
In general, I think the fact that they have basically added 70+ hits to the last 12 games is amazing. That stat alone gives me a lot of confidence in this team for the playoffs. In any long playoff series, those extra hits are going to wear teams down. |

I'm hoping that takes a bit of pressure off Orpik in that area. Maybe he can focus on just positioning himself a bit more and clearing the net. He's missed on some hits at times and it's cost him and his partner(except Martin) |

all kidding aside; absolutely amazing, he is a 100% class act. Still sticking to my guns with his coaching decisions. Lately however he has been flawless. Playoffs await. |

I'll never forget when Iron Sheik and Hacksaw Jim Duggan were pulled over and arrested for possession of marijuana and cocaine. |

Hacksaw had to be on something. There is no other explanation for an individual that makes the Bushwackers seem normal. |

I laugh that Iginla and Morrow are considered role players on this team - cap1681
Some fans were way too impatient with them after a couple of games. They just needed to get acclimated to the team and they are playing the way we all knew they would.
The trades that Shero made have been phenomenal. |

The other night (was it last night?*) Kypreos said he doesn't expect to see Crosby back until Round 2 at the earliest. Now I don't think he knows anymore than anyone else so I'll believe it when i see it. My guess is if we get to 2 losses in round 1 he'll be out there.

it has already been reported that sid took the same so geno can take more.. Id say 9 to 9.5 but im being realistic so I figured they give hi 10 to stay which is only a 1.3 bump in pay..not bad compared to letangs 3.5 to ??? |

As he should, kid has been great.
I want to caution everyone in here, based on what I read more so in other blogs. There seems to be a ridiculous amount of over confidence from this fan base. I hope I need not remind everyone what we have seen the last 3 years when we get our injured stars back. We have seen numerous times that this team plays out of their mind when these guys are out, and when they come back everything is out of whack because everyone tries to get them the puck, they're not up to game speed, take lazy penalties etc.
So while this team is stacked and I realize it's hard not to get wrapped up in the success they are having, let's not get ahead of ourselves. We are going to have to beat 4 good teams to claim the prize. The fall is harder when you expect to win. See 1993. - canadianpenfan
Although there are a lot of similarities between the two teams, there are some major differences between this team and the 93 penguins. In 1993, the team was coming off back-to-back stanley cup victories...this team is coming off back-to-back first round exits. This is a much hungerier team...especially those verterans we added that have never won a Stanley Cup. Yeah, there may be a lot of confidence coming from our fan base right now and our teams play reflects it. The Cup is ours to lose this year. There are some good teams out there, but not one of them comes close to matching up with us line for line (assuming everyone is healthy) and every other team in the league knows it. We are in the middle of a 7 game winnings streak right now without Sid, Geno, Neal, or Martin (Letang/Fleury have also missed time during this streak). The coaching has been great, the goaltending has been shut down, and the contributions are coming from each line. The PP is firing out all cylinders without our star players, and the PK is shut down. This is the time of year where playing good hockey matters, and we have been flawless. |
