.....I had never once considered that until this moment. My god, it's so sickening.

I mean, I knew there must have been better picks than Daigle on the board, but.....WE COULD HAVE HAD JAGR?

- TommyDeVito

i don't think they were in teh same draft........just pointing out that daigle was taken first, and i think jagr was taken 5th or 6th.

BUT, we could have had pronger instead of daigle.....he was the very next pick

How slowly do I have to spell this out for you? The scenario was a draft. Every player on every team is redrafted.

I never said Karlsson was better than Sid. It was someone else who said Karlsson is the best player in the game right now, not me.

What I said, is that it's possible a GM may pick Karlsson ahead of Sid because D are more valuable (and dominant D are more rare) than forwards, Karlsson is younger (we have no idea what potential he has) and Sid in injury prone.

If you are going to debate or argue with me, please don't put words in my mouth.

- Charliebox

Best player in the world versus arguably the best defenseman in the world. A GM might, probably Ottawa's. 95% would pick Crosby.

what does draft position have to do with anything?

luke schenn was drafted like 6th or 7th overall...........should we include him in the debate?

daigle was taken 4 spots ahead of of jagr, perhaps that should work in daigle's favour........

He just said Karlsson was considered the more polished player upon arrival to the league.

Letang took some time to develop into the more rounded dman he is today. He was very physical in his first few years then really started picking up his offensive game and defensive responsibilities after Gonchar left.

Granted, Karlsson may very well prove to be even better than he is now given a few more years at full health. That's the beauty of watching gifted players over time.

And I think she went to the prom with some desperate nerd that stalked her on the internet. So she's obviously into desperate nerds on the internet which coincidentally works great for me.

I like to remind the Flyers gang that they could have saved themselves years of torment and misery if they had only drafted Jagr instead of Mike Ricci...you can almost see the steam from their ears wafting over the Alleghenies as they ponder what could have been.

Incredible that the Penguins are going to dress (besides Steve MacIntyre), a decent NHL hockey team tonight.

Then you consider that they will be missing Sid, Malkin, Neal, Martin, Letang, Fleury and Bennett.

There is a lot of NHL hardware, Olympic selections, All Star appearances, and first round draft picks (Martin & Neal were 2nd rounders) in that group.

You could probably take the 6 guys that were left in Pittsburgh, fill out the roster with Wilkes Barre players, and win some NHL hockey games.

Penguins G Tomas Vokoun will be going for his 300th career victory when he makes his 700th career appearance tonight in Ottawa.

Don't think for a minute Bylsma didn't know this when he told the media the last couple of days that Fleury was going to play 3 of the 4 last games.

Saying that out loud, is reminding the team that this might be the only chance to get Vokoun his 300th this season, and will make the players in that room work even harder on what basically is a throwaway game.

Great motivation.

She hates Canadians because of their stupid accent. Looks like you will have to go back to fantasizing about your chances with Alanis Morissette.

That's fine.

As a ref on here, if you want to target me and tell me to go away, that's fine. I get it.. it's a Pens blog.

I just want to state clearly that while I may have a different opinion, I'm not being an ass about it, or calling people names like we are in elementary school.

Letangs better and I said it last so it has to be true... Crosby goes 1st overall and again I said it last so it has to be true!!!

Yeah... so many years with a GAA under 2.50 and so many years with a save % around .920, and he's basically a .500 goalie.

I wonder how good he would be backstopping teams that could score?

I have mixed feelings about all these guys sitting and the feel of "well we're in so who cares about these games"

going into the playoffs hot and firing on all cylinders is key. I understand MAF going home for the birth of his child. It seems like Vokoun was supposed to get the start anyway.

but seeing all of these stars continue to sit out is good and bad.

it's good because it makes other guys like Morrow, Dupuis, Cooke, Sutter, Jokinen, Iginla, etc. step up and elevate their game.

it's bad because I fear that Bylsma will try to put all of these guys back in the lineup in one night and the shock will set in and really hurt this team. this team has been playing like a complete package team. hard work, hitting, good goaltending, good defense, and a guy stepping up every night. I hope that that doesn't change when our top paid and most talented players step back in. because if this team tries to win based on names and talent in the playoffs, we will have a short time in the playoffs.

a win tonight really increases our chance at seeing Ottawa in Round 1. not scared of NYR, but why make it more difficult for us if we don't have to?
